All of these have been exquisite. 😀

it has been brought to my attention that mets in fact has a significant number of pog-related gimmick accounts, bringing the estimated total post count to 250,000 - 300,000

please rename thread how u gonna ban a guy with 250,000 - 300,000 (est) posts

It is hard to eulogize any poster – to capture in words not just the posts and the dates that make a posting record, but the essential truth of a person – their private joys and sorrows; the quiet moments and unique qualities that illuminate someone’s soul. How much harder to do so for a titan of discussion, who moved his thoughts across countless threads, and in the process posted hundreds of thousands of messages around the forum.

Born during the rise of the internet age, far from the simplicity of offline debates, a boy raised in the early days of online forums – metsandfinsfan would emerge as the most prolific poster of the 21st century. Like Gandhi, he would lead a resistance movement – a movement that at its start held little prospect of success. Like King, he would give potent voice to the claims of the marginalized posters, and the moral necessity of heated debates. He would endure brutal temp-banning that began in ATF, and reached the lowest threads of P&S. Emerging from being temp-banned, without force of arms, he would – like Lincoln – post his thoughts when threatened with a perma-ban.

Given the sweep of his posting record, and the controversies that he so boldly stirred, it is tempting then to remember metsandfinsfan as an icon, controversial and polarizing, detached from the mundane affairs of casual posters. But metsandfinsfan himself strongly resisted such a lifeless portrait. Instead, he insisted on sharing with us his opinions and beliefs; his miscalculations along with his victories. “I would guess I'm about breakeven overall in discussions (up in some, down in others, etc).” he wrote in his well, “I didn't engage much in certain threads because I always ran into heated debates there.”

Metsandfinsfan showed us the power of discussion; of posting on behalf of our ideals. Perhaps metsandfinsfan was right that he inherited, “a proud rebelliousness, a weird sense of fairness” from the ethos of the forum. But unlike other prolific posters of 2+2, metsandfinsfan disciplined his fervor; and channeled his desire to get his point across into well-crafted arguments and passionate debates, so men and women could stand-up for their views. Moreover, he accepted the consequences of his actions, knowing that standing up to powerful interests and injustice carries a price: “The posts I do make are about 50% passion, 50% reason. How many threads I have... no I don't have a posting problem”

Metsandfinsfan taught us the power of debate, but also the importance of conviction; the significance of standing firm on principles; the need to engage not only with those you agree with, but with those who don't. He understood that discussion cannot be contained by infractions, or extinguished by a temp-ban.

He speaks to what is passionate inside us. After this great poster is laid to rest; when we have returned to our threads and forums, and rejoined our daily debates, let us search then for his strength – for his fervor – somewhere inside ourselves. And when the night grows dark, when injustice weighs heavy on our hearts, or our best laid arguments seem beyond our reach – think of metsandfinsfan, and the words that brought him comfort within the forum:

I always post my thoughts till late
some people think I am a troll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

What a great soul he was. We will miss him deeply. May Max bless the memory of metsandfinsfan. May God bless the people of 2+2.

Lol very good. Whose eulogy was that originally?

Thought at first it was made by AI, but Morph spotted things I don't think even AI is capable of yet.

Off with your head!

omg I asked ChatGPT to do the whole thing based on my starter, and the obvious final line. This is hilarious:

McNulty: So your boy's name is what?

Witness: Mets.

McNulty: You called the guy Mets?

Witness: Metsandfinsfan, yah.

McNulty: Metsandfinsfan. He like the name?

Witness: What?

McNulty: Metsandfinsfan. This poster whose mama went to the trouble of naming him Omar Isaiah Betts or whatever... You know, he limps too much oop, so he starts running for help on 2+2, has to think up some username, instea

Nice.

Honestly the GOAT opening to a show. Gotta rewatch very soon.

It would be rather redundant at this point, though.

Thanks for the insight what you mods' view of us posters is.

We'd better be humble.

This forum has so many bugs
I don't seem to have this "Ban User" option

Is Bobo now basically an undercover cop?

Is Bobo now basically an undercover cop?

I think he's more like a civilian with a very big gun.

Good guy with a gun.

bobo's one of the very few with all those options. I don't have any of that crap. Most of us even have to go to a separate site to do any bannin', making it kind of a pain in the ass.

You don't have a big beautiful button?

If you don't have the super-powers, they should call you guys hall monitors or something instead of mods.

I feel sorry for you. No palette like Bobo, just to choose which banhammer it's gonna be.

But you must be able to infract independently?

Just because you have 160k posts, doesn't mean any of them are good.

I actually did not see this thread until now
