Frequently Asked (and Answered) Questions

There are some questions that get asked and answered a lot. To save myself and regular posters some time and frustration I'm going to try to collect some here, along with threads containing correct answers. If there's a question you'd like to see in here please PM me.

1. Say you have a flush draw on the flop - is this really 9 outs? After all, some of your outs are going to be in your opponent's hands, burned, etc, so on average, shouldn't you have less outs than this?

No - 9 outs is the right number. For details see these threads, especially Lego05's posts:

2. Does running it twice (or 3 times or 10 times etc) change your EV? Is it better to run it twice as the underdog or the favorite?

No, it does not change your EV, but it does lower your variance. This is true irrespective of whether you're ahead or behind.

3. I invented this new poker game that has no variance! Isn't that great?

No, it isn't. For one thing, variance is what keeps bad players playing. More here:

4. Should I ever fold KK preflop?

The answer here is not as cut and dried as some of the above, but it's been discussed to death and no one wants to hear it again.
