There’s a lot of stuff GTO doesn’t take into account but I’m not going to post it because it’s alpha, even if nobody will read it. But yeah it should be intuitively obvious that in a fishy game having position on the one player who is capable of 3betting you light is far more important than having position on fish. There’s some player types where I love being out of position against them because they will overplay positional advantage so much but then actually adjust back and play closer to good when they’re out of position.

Nah. lol. I have a friend in Vegas who is really into advantage play and tells me stories about slot hustling and sour rooting teams. It’s a pretty insane subculture. The old slot silver miners got a new lease on life!

Would you focus on making the most money possible and just grinding a ton of hours if you could? Or do you think having some life balance and living in a more comfortable, but higher COL place like California outweighs Texas, Las Vegas, etc.?

anonymity makes games better for recreational players and ultimately for the ecosystem as a whole historically. if you could trust the site to police itself anonymity is obviously best for recreationals. the problem is the community ends up policing these sites through 3rd party tracking and exposing scandals the sites overlooked or were ignoring. in the end the sites dont want their recs cheated because it ends up cutting into their bottom line sooner or later so as a recreational player i would always want to play on an anonymous site and its not close. the chances of getting cheated are far lower and less expensive than the assurity of being bum hunted and "clocked" by RTA software.

however, the ideal situation would be to play on a non-anonymous site where you could have friendships/familiarity/competition and not be bumhunted. this is what private clubs try to do and some sites try to do with separated player pools.

What were your online usernames? Party or other sites?

impossible to remember them all. i changed them constantly or opened new accounts at party. At absolute/ultimate i kept the same user name because i had a 100% rake back prop account but i cant remember much from 15 years ago.

Can you help advise me how to do live poker the right way, with the assumption that I'm playing at public card rooms how to make that as positive as possible.

Did you ever find it to be a toxic environment? How did you deal with the toxic individuals that you probably encountered there. Are you able to be your best version of yourself in the live poker scene at the public games?

Another question: Any advice on how to get into private games?

I probably had 100 of them starting in 2003. lol. no one on earth remembers all that **** if they've lived any sort of fun or interesting life in the 20 years in between.

you just have to enjoy the chaos. the most "toxic" games are the best games. if you cant hack it in public games you'll lose your mind in private games. constant shenanigans. getting in is easy, pay full rake, hang out with fish away from the game and pretend to be gambly. the rake is gonna kill you so the host doesnt care if youre a working pro as long as youre at least moderately liked by the majority fish.

What's your take on AI? Do you think it is overhyped or underhyped?

It seems like one of those things some really smart people are very divided on, with one side saying that in possibly just a few years life as we know it will be dramatically different, and some saying that we are decades away from any kind of serious artificial intelligence that will actually do substantial work for us. If the AI hype really materializes it seems like there will be incredible changes to the workplace including the loss of millions of jobs. I think this is happening already to some very small extent, but currently AI is not good enough to truly automate a lot of work.

theres no reason to believe its not basically correctly hyped and will make the world better in measurable ways. based on all of recorded history millions of jobs will be lost and they will be replaced by millions of new jobs. Paradoxically AI could bring back very old jobs that are gone now, Imagine if nothing you see on a screen can any longer be verified as "real" with a certainty level needed to take serious action on that info. This could bring back the importance of proven subscription "analog" news reporting outside the web. more information is always better, how it will all pan out is a mystery. online poker however, is dead. lolol. live poker for any serious stakes is probably dead as well as wearables and implantable will become ubiquitous. crypto/prediction type markets are the future of gambling. dorks bankrupting VC's through idiotic Meme stock purchases was the future of gambling, it was a tiny glimpse into the barely known truth that large groups can create their own reality for short periods of time in finance and politics, but it will become man v. machine basically pitting peoples ability to work together vs. their individual greed in finance and politics and people betting predictions all the way up and down.

I got into the game the first day.

The 2nd day I showed up and this private game they wouldn't let me on the list. I noticed there are some nitty pros in there, and they had seats blocked off for the VIP.

I asked the host if they need any more players and he said that would get back to me later. I think some people said I was a good player / a pro or something.

I'm playing PLO. I raise preflop and get 2 callers.

Flop ck ck button bets, SB calls, and I jam.

Then the SB starts saying, "I guess you have the nuts"

Then I turn over the nuts on the river, and he berates me to his neighbor, saying I was holly wooding, and he wasn't sure if was necessary or not.

I wasn't going to complain, but I'm wondering if you think I should ignore this guy or say something, so he understands not to berate me. To nip it in the bud right away or ignore it?

I was kind of resentful the next day and I used profanity with the guy over something because he never speaks to me and then he was trying to berate me with another player, and this player actually corrected him for his stupidity at the time so that's why I didn't feel the need to say anything. Talking about a tight mediocre pro here.

I was in a pot the other day it was a bomb pot, but that's not super relevant here, except that we are on the river it's 3 way.

board was 3 6 7cc.

On the river I had a straight flush on one board and a straight on the other board.

SB checks river. MP pots it. I jam. SB folds. Then I mis heard or somehow made a mistake and turned over my hand and said I have a straight flush. Then I realized this guy hasn't acted yet. so I put my cards back.

It's a split pot.

Then I thought again he said call. he's speaking a foreign language. I flip the cards over this time, and this time I left them out. Cause i don't want them to think I'm trying to angle shoot the table or anything at this point the guy reads the board and calls because he was getting half the pot. He would have folded.

Also, this hand happened before the "hollywood hand" Which is also why i started acting more slowly so I won't make any big mistakes.

coaching fish WILL NOT get you in the game lol. Think a step ahead on this "coach". Sitting in the game with your student isn't going to go well for anyone involved on many levels. Hosts often need a nit or 2 to act as props. they show up early, leave late, never ague, never eat or drink expensive stuff and the host often forces them to basically be his horses.
