what do you think about ding liren?

im pretty confident that two of the best creative geniuses alive are gonna be squaring off in the match next year. when maggzy beat fabi i did concert quite a bit of effort into figuring out where the leverage was, but i knew in my heart it was a game of man versus boy and carlsen was profitable at 10,000-1 odds.

this time will be substantially different. they call magnus the mozart of chess, but ding is comically more talented than mozart, and magnus is even stronger than ding.

but thinking-focus on strength as a dynamic component doesn't play here. ding is a force of nature who can make the wind. he is one happy dude. it might be possible that ding has experienced happiness in a way that magnus never has: so who's "stronger" now?

this puzzle has some unbelievable elements. the world's rice supply might factor into ding's play. carlsen could be convinced to throw the match due to Norwegian chess politics and a potential for a chinese chess boom? does magnus want nothing more than to grow the game?

i'm not even playing. they asked ding in st louis about his hopes for winning a tournament and he shared his worry about running out of ****ing rice. that is one bad dude.

i have no doubt that i'll complete the circle. i have too much free time not to. it's going to be a daunting mission that i'm neurotically feeling anxious about.

plan is to consume an extreme amount of psychedelic drugs and get my mind into a totally far out meta state where i'm convinced that i'm wandering into a desert looking for a medicine man and then Mr. Ding randomly wants to have a cup of tea....

got 13 months tho. no sweat.

Ding is scheduled to play Tata Steel Masters in 10 days

I will obviously be rooting for him in Tata Steel, but I have a feeling he will flame out, and disappear again.

Perhaps Ding will catch wind of this thread, and realize how much he is believed in.

Firouzja vs. Ding tomorrow in a game neither can afford to lose

Nodirbek's also a future world champion.

I glimpsed a part of C^2, they said something about Chinese players retiring young due to the immense pressure they face.

Ding's meteoric rise in the 2019 Sinquefield Cup will be etched into my memory forever. Watching him take down Carlsen is the only time I've seen the world #1 falter, crumble, and annihilate. Nothing good was going on in my life at the time -- except for watching Ding.

I truly hope he hasn't written the final chapter already.

Worship of others is only for sycophants and morons.

Worship of others is only for sycophants

This sounds tautological.

It's very obvious to me that Carlsen understands chess better than anyone who has ever lived.

He's one of the most talented persons in human history.

Even as a woefully bad player myself, getting to watch him work will always be thrilling.

Gukesh D is going to be the next big one IMO. Ian collapsed on the world stage versus big M. And according to this Wikipedia article which I am reading and that you can't see Ian and Ding mostly drew and had to go to some sort of playoff of some such.

I mean look Gukesh's garf.

I'm on #TeamVaishali for the Candidates.

There's only one place I want to follow the German Pro league and that is chess24. They should bring it back :(

Nodirbek is now top 5 :0

Alice Lee is now the world's greatest chess prodigy.

Ding should take care of business against Gukesh.

One thing’s for certain. It should be a very interesting match!
