Scariest Movie of all time?
I tried to search a thread on this topic, found one and didn`t really like it, so instead of bumping I made a new one.
I am searching for a really, really scary movie. The scariest movie I have ever seen was by far The Exorcist in the cinema, tons of people walked out, some seemed really sick to the stomache (sp?). I, as well, was terrified, but I still had a great time.
I was like 16 when the Directors Cut came to the Cinemas, I am 24 now.
But since then I never had an experience in the cinema like this. The Ring was quite ok, and The Grudge as well, but that only in the cinema was well.
The new "shockingly scary" movies like "Paranormal Activity" just won`t have the same effect on me like the said Exorcist.
Any reccomendations, thoughts, flames?

Nice bump!
I enjoy horror movies, but very few have actually scared me. The Shining (1980) scared me when I watched it on its first airing on regular TV at about age 13. The fact that it was very stormy and our power went out for maybe 10 minutes in the middle of the film added to the scariness.
Going backwards from now, Talk To Me (2022) is the most recent film I remember actually scaring me a bit and was a fun roller-coaster type of film. Hereditary (2018) definitely had me on the edge of my seat for most of its run time and had a few moments I would say I was genuinely scared. The Babadook (2014) gave me a several good scares (and a few laughs), while Sinister (2012) was probably the overall creepiest and most effective pure horror film as far as keeping me tense for the entire runtime. Insidious (2010) was nearly as good, but parts were a bit confusing, and other parts deliberately let the tension ease (which I'm sure many prefer).
All of the above are recommended to anyone who hasn't seen them.
One of those "Exorcist" ones where the creeper in the hospital was stalking the nurse with the beheading thing, and the music shrieked right when he attacked. "The Heretic??"
