How do you identify player types without a HUD?
How can you identify player types without a HUD? Some of the sites I use don't allow a HUD which makes it tough when trying to figure out if it's a TAG, LAG, nit, whale or maniac.

I dislike HUD's. As a player who primarily played live poker, over reliance on the ability to glance down and see a players percentages crippled the ability to make reads.
How do you classify players without a HUD? Watch them. Pay attention. Use examples of their actions and the hands the show down with to define their ranges, then modify that impression as you get more information.
It takes focus and can be inexact (there are players who will, especially in tournaments, show down early with a wide, loose range to set people's impression of them, and then tighten their range to get more action with stronger hands), but that is the art of poker.
Watch your opponents. Analyze their play. Get in their heads.
