Improve postflop play or 3 betting ranges?

Improve postflop play or 3 betting ranges?

Hi all,

I've been grinding 2nl for the past couple of weeks, focusing on getting my RFI ranges down and I am now at the spot where I am looking to improve another part of my game. Over 10k hands I am winning around 8bb/100.

My postflop play is very simple and straight forward, range betting a lot of dry flops IP, checking back low boards, sizing up on wet flops, and folding to aggression. I 3bet about 5% from all positions except BB where I am closer to 10%. I know theoretically this is too little but I have basically no knowledge of how to play postflop in a 3bet pot.

Would you recommend memorizing 3 bet ranges and studying 3bet pots first. Or would it be better to study IP postflop play deeper first?

Any particular resources would be helpful as well.

Get your preflop stuff in order first... it's the easiest and quickest node to fix. There are multiple resources for free online covering preflop material. I'd recommend just following some simple preflop ranges on GTOwizard.

My fear is that if I start raising K9s, while it might be theoretically correct, I need to understand postflop play well enough to actually realize my equity.

Working on PF3B range is less work with a much smaller reward IMO. There's much more work to be done and gain to be had working on post-flop play.

Post-flop is something you will be refining for the rest of your poker career but it's also time to get started. That's where the meat is, along with the jackals.
