What's the point of range betting and when are you not meant to do it?
I recall watching a GG poker stream and the pro was in the BB with AQo . HJ raises preflop, BB calls. Flop is A♦8♦9♣
The pro said that villain should not range bet here because the flush draw and the 8 and 9 are not good cards for him.
- What is a range bet and why do we do it?
- When are you not meant to range bet?

As I know, a range bet is when you bet with your entire range of hands, not just the strong ones. It's a common strategy on dry boards (like an A-2-2 rainbow) because those boards favor the preflop aggressor, and you don’t need to be too selective. The idea is to apply pressure to weaker hands, keeping the opponent guessing.
Heres a video from upswing poker on this, explaining it better than i could ever do:
Might be a bit advanced, but they explain the 'why' which is often overlooked.
