dumb question - raise size % ???

dumb question - raise size % ???

Hi there - if - in the solvers - it says to raise a certain percentage what does this mean and how do I calculate that?

For example bb bets 33% pot into a pot of 5.9bb. The opponent is advised to raise their entire range by 55%... how do I calculate that size?

thank you for helping me out here lol.

Calculate how big the pot would be if you call, then 55% of that will be the RAISE onto of the amount that would have been needed to call. So if BB bets 33% of pot, that is about 1.95 bb. If this bet is called, the pot would be 9.8bb, and 55% of 9.8bb would be 5.39. Therefore, if instead of calling the bet we want to raise by 55%, the new bet size is 5.39 + 1.95, or 7.34bb.

Side note, if solver is telling you that if bb bets 33% and then the other player now raises with range, I am guessing bb donk bet when they weren't supposed to into a range that was probably going to range bet.

IOW to simplify let's say that its a live MTT with 30bb effective... you open from the button 2bb... sb folds and BB calls. Pot has 6.5bb (including ante). It comes KQ3 rainbow... he donks an even 2bb ... at that point whatever the pot is rounded down is what I make it... 8.5 in there now so I put in 8bb. Not quite 55% but close enough... thats why you need to be counting the pot at every moment at the tables.
