Categorizing players based on HUD stats and limited hand history
Hi folks, I am trying to figure out how to best categorize players based on hand histories and hud stats I have collected on them.
The issue I am having is that I'm not really sure what stats correlate to what archetype of player. My general feeling is something like this:
1. Higher VPIP is a looser player, but a lower PFR/3bet is a more passive player. A TAG would have a low vpip, higher pfr/3bet. A LAG would have high both, and a nit would have low both. Calling station would have a very high VPIP, low PFR, never fold to a Cbet, and go to showdown a lot.
2. At the microstakes you run into mostly either fish or really tricky players. This makes it really hard to determine what kind of ranges people play. On top of this, I don't necessarily see lots of cards for people. Even with 1000+ hand history I'll have less than 100 hands where I know their hold cards. This makes it pretty difficult to assess ranges from any sort of statistical perspective, especially because you're biased towards hands that have showdown value.
Anyway, I really just want to know what _you_ do when you categorize someone and how you interpret the various statistics/histories you have.
