How long does a Bill take to become Law? (NY sweepcoin Ban)
I was hoping someone could tell me how long it should take for the NY sweeps coin bill to become Law. What's your prediction? I'm thinking if it does then it shouldn't be until 2026. Is this off base and it should be sooner and possibly much sooner? Tyvm.

I don’t have any particularly great knowledge of NY state government or anything, but I assume that laws are passed in the same way there as in other states and in the Federal government - bills are voted on by the legislature and, assuming a vote to pass, sent to the executive (in this case the governor), who can either approve it or veto it, with some process to override a veto if that’s her decision.
In short, there is no specific timetable. The legislature will set times for debate and votes on the matter, but there is no specific amount of time for that to play out. Presumably, once approved by the legislature and signed by the governor, it would take effect immediately unless there is some provision in the specific bill that stated otherwise.
Facing the same issue in Florida. A bill to ban online poker was unanimously approved by a subcommittee. I know that every year at the end of June the local media will do "state laws going in to effect July 1" articles.
I am tracking the bill (1404) through: fastdemocracy.com
Thank you both
