Time vs. Rake in low stakes NLH
I play at one place that does time rather than rake. It's $18/hr no matter what you play. The available game changes. There is 1/2 and 2/5 NLH, 15/30 limit mixed, 5/5 BigO.
For a relatively tight player, is this just too much money for 1/2 NLH? Or doesn't it matter that much overall.....

Well stakes/game would matter.
For 1/2 that would be 9bb/hr. If you're only play 30 hands/hr then that would translate to 9bb/30 hands or around 30bb/100 in rake. For a live game that sounds unbeatable to me still as low stakes online has rake around 10-12bb/100. For 2/5nl, that would be cut in half and is probably more reasonable and likely beatable if sufficiently soft or hands/hr maintains 30+/hr.
I can't comment on 15/30 limit, but I'd imagine it is getting to unbeatable region again. 5/5 BigO not sure.
Players more familiar with live games/structures and these games might be able to provide you with more valuable feedback than me:

If you are a NLHE player, your best bet would be to play 2/5. If there are bankroll/stakes consideration, just play 2/5 say 2 times a month instead of playing 1/2 every week.
Even if you can beat this 1/2 game by a small margin, too much $$$ comes off the table every hour to make this a worthy proposition.
