Gaming License in PA
I'm starting a back-office position in the finance department, in auditing. I need to apply to obtain a Gaming License in the state of PA. As a condition of employment, I need to successfully receive the license before I can start. I've reviewed everything that is investigated and scrutinized to obtain the license, and you'd think I was applying for a position with the CIA and needed a top-secret security clearance instead of applying for a low-level position in finance.
I have several questions:
1) When checking credit, do they look at all 3 credit bureaus? If not, which one(s)? How many years back do they review credit?
2) If I have a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy that I successfully completed, will that prevent the license from being issued?
3) It appears that they look at continuous employment as one of the criteria. Between 2009 and 2013, I was laid off a few times. At the time, I had jobs in IT, when many of those roles were being outsourced offshore due to lower labor costs. After 13 years in my job through 2022, I was laid off when my company merged, and hundreds of others lost their jobs as a result. Coinciding with that, I had surgery for cancer and didn't return to work until 2 years ago as a substitute teacher. Do you believe my employment record will be an issue?
4) How many years back are taxes reviewed? One year, I was audited and had to pay additional taxes. Another year, I owed a lot and went on a payment plan that I completed. Do you believe my taxes are an issue?
5) Perhaps individually these issues would not be a problem, but maybe combined they will be. What do you believe?
I will greatly appreciate feedback on my questions. Even if you can't respond to them all, I'd appreciate feedback on any that you can. If you have any advice regarding my application, I'd like to hear it.
Again, thanks!
