Virtual Currency - Alt Coin Discussion Thread
I wanted to post a different thread to discuss the "crypto-coin" boom that happened this week.
For those who don't know, crypto-coins (or alt coins) have exploded in popularity among the bitcoin crowd. Some coins have gone from 5-10 cents to 2-3 dollars, making early investors millions. The market caps have gone from $500,000 being significant to the same coins have 20-30 million in market cap just two weeks later.
While alt-coins have long been a favorite of the "pump and dump" crowd - much like penny stocks - it's been their popularity in China this week that have many thinking if the run can be more sustained.
Even more, some (like WorldCoin) have financial services coming out that will allow direct crypto-fiat transactions...much like Coinbase is for bitcoin.
Anyway, I really wanted to get a good discussion going here of these coins. Full disclosure: after staying FAR away from alt coins this summer I recently jumped in to three that I like a lot and think they have a lot of long-term potential: WDC, Megacoin, and Peercoin. I'd love to hear what coins others like and the reasons why!

Exactly. Put a lot of buys in over the past 24 hours grabbing things at discount with available powder. Could see this going mostly sideways all the way out until Mid Jan or so.

QF showing insane strength during this time. Think that will run to $10min over shortish term and when their mainnet goes live will be a make or break moment for them.

VertAI and SERV have also held up extremely well during the resistance. VertAI tokenomics look horrible but we know how that goes; actually lot of the best performing coins over the very short term have horrid looking tokenomics...typical crypto space
Couple super microcaps that look interesting between looking at the graph + holder %s/distro/lockups + cpl whale addresses we've followed around a bit + tokenomics/any info we have on it are pear, omira, rsn, optionsai, and zkai. All MCs under 10mil and cpl even under 2mil
Normal dip for bull run. Lots of things are on sale. Buy and hold for this coming year, it will be fine. Love the usual suspects here, ADA, COTI, Eth, XRP etc..the usual names or companies that have a strong fundamental backing etc..NFA, DYOR please!

Quite stunning the similarities of Dec 2020 and Dec 2024. BAsically had nukes on the almost exact same days. Dec 2020 alts nuked Dece 10, same this yr. Also nuked around 20th, same this yr. Going back to Nov 26 2020, was a nuke there same as this year too. Dec 23, 2020 marked the actual bottom. We slowly built up to new years and never saw those prices again

Think we definitely can get that further leg down with BTC struggling at under 100k but did add to various bags today about 2-3 hours ago in case this is it. Have powder if we go further down and 3x purchase amounts ready if we do get 1 more capitulation. I never do any leverage at all as it scares me too much but if we do get wiped out to BTC 90k or under and ETH under 3k, that would look like a great spot to go long
One simple use case - AI Agents that read lines from sportsbooks. AI Agents that act upon that data on your behalf. Whether it's arbitrage or a good line you want to bet. You don't even have to run the agent, others can run it for you.

Working terminal and CMC page already up after two days. The terminal feels like a gimmick in my opinion but maybe it's some fun for some people. Worth a punt imo. Crow.computer

Some known unknown/unknown unknown risk arising at MSTR or via contagion from other B-squad companies attempting to mimic (unsuccessfully) the Saylor playbook during late stage bull concurrent with a rehypothecation/liquidation bankruptcy would be my current best guess for the straw that break’s the camel’s back to kick off the next bear market… but if it’s not that it’ll probably be something AI/agent related that completely vaporizes $100bn of absurdly marked up market cap a la Terra Luna that completely wipes out the latest cohort of shitcoining degens.
Kinda funny to me that in the span of a few weeks to fortnights we’ve gone from “there’s no catalyst to kick off this cycle’s alt szn bull market euphoria like 2021’s with NFT’s (aside: I saw the word “provenance” tossed around in 2021 enough to last me multiple lifetime) and opaque & convoluted Rube Goldberg DeFi daisy chain ponzi loops” to “AI agents are a multi-hundred billion+ TAM that will revolutionize x, y and z within months, life as we know it is over, and this is the killer use case that onboards billions to crypto.”
I haven’t done the full deep dive on AI agents yet, but based on learnings from prior adoption cycles I’d say this is Grade A vaporware that is currently being shilled and manifested into existence and consensus throughout Crypto Twitter. There’s probably a killing to be made if you’re deeply in tune with this meta or have access to seed round/SAFTs, but we all know how this story will end - the complete obliteration of clueless retail capital.
