[Brokenstars] [$100/hr] 6max NLH 5nl-200nl [Verified]
Hello,
I mainly play 200nl-500nl on ignition/bovada. I've been playing there for several years with solid win rates. I played poker recreationally from around 2009-2018 and then decided to give full time poker a chance in 2018 (see results below). In 2019 I had serious life issues come up and played almost no poker. At the end of 2019 I started completely over with $100 roll and completed a $100-$10k challenge starting at 5nl in about 180k hands (see below).

Who would benefit the most from my coaching?
The people that would benefit from my coaching the most will be at stakes 5nl up to struggling 200nl players. Specifically players on ignition/bovada will also benefit the most since I have a lot of population data/stats and due to the fact I recently did a $100-$10k challenge through all the stakes, so I know my current strategy/outlook on the game will work well there.
--------------

I already responded recently to that question. I am not playing right now. Anyone looking for a coach right now that is actively playing and winning can choose from Aner0, colliepoker, keuwai, all seem like great options and at different price points. Aner0 just updated his graph on his page and he is doing extremely well.
Anyone looking to criticize the fact that I'm not playing right now is fine to do so. There are alternative coaches out there that I think would also do a great job and people
Actually have no issues with you coaching. Was just curious if you still played is all.
Why did you skip nl2
I recommend Brokenstars,
Helped me a lot in climbing from 2nl to 25nl, quickly pointed out leaks that I have from my stats and hand reviews.
Shoutout to Brokenstars coaching.
I am an older player who started to like the game right around the time Durrrr was playing on high stakes poker. I was amazed at his game and wanted to play like him. Before I got coaching in mid-march of this year, I had a lot of false beliefs like it doesn't matter what 2 cards you play before the flop, what matters is your postflop decisions. And the way to win was to play weaker, well-disguised hands and suckout by cracking my opponents bigger pocket pairs (kind of very reminiscent of Dwan would do when he was sunrunning back in those days). In spite of these beliefs, I was still a winning a player, but i would go through periods of 200k-300k breakeven stretches and would run so horribly bad for so long. My poker instincts, like my feel and my hand reading abilities, were good; but, I had no mathematical way to justify my play and I was prone to these brutal and quite honestly mentally-crippling stretches where i doubted if i was live in reality or a bad simulation with never-ending coolers.
Before i had reached out for coaching, I was in a middle of 300-350k break even stretch (probably the longest one ever for me) starting in late November of 2023 and I was growing more and more frustrated. I was getting ready to take a long break, but decided I just needed to accept that maybe I'm not as good as I thought I was and i need to do something about it. I read the reviews in this thread like the one you are currently reading now, and decided to take a shot. I've only ever received poker instruction from watching HSP and sometimes the YT poker streams, so this was new to me and didn't know what to expect.
Our first session was a database review. To put it nicely, he pointed out that I was playing far from optimal. Quite literally, I was choosing to play worse hands than my opponents. We went over some adjustments, and the improvements were instantaneous. Which has motivated me to learn and try to catch up with the modern poker theory. Seeing consistent results made the game more fun, and added a boost to my desire to want to continue improving.
I am a lot better than I was before I started coaching, but if I were being honest with myself, I'm just scratching the surface of what I could be if I put in the work in and learn to study better with Brokenstars help. With Brokenstars' coaching, I have the confidence I can reach that point.
This graph below starts Jan 1, 2024. I usually put in 100k hands/ month, and you can see the graph start to ascend right around when I started coaching in mid-march.

No longer offering this. Will probably do something similar again next year between late october-december.
Anyone who meets his criteria should jump at this opportunity when he offers it again. I'm a relative noob with the PT4 data so this helped me understand some of the numbers presented. He really broke down some stats and explained what the raw data suggested about my play. He confirmed some of those suspicions by running some of my hands from my recent history and offered advice to alleviate these tendencies of mine. His method of communication was clear, detailed, and almost an "explain like I'm 5" level when I needed it.
I read a reply from someone who was skeptical it was some sort of sales pitch or something for his coaching services, and not once did Brokenstars bring up any kind of up-sell or sales pitch until I asked him specifically about it, and only after he was ready to end our call.
Do you have any information available that helped you setup pokertracker 4 for specifically ignition? I know you are no longer offering this service but it would greatly appreciated if you could help me learn how you setup your pokertracker for ignition.
Thanks

You have two main options if you're going to be using PT4:
1. You can get card catcher from ace poker solutions website which will basically "catch" the hand histories in real time and allow you to use HUD + get stats.
2. Alternatively, you can download the HH and simply just upload them as normal.
If you're playing regular tables, then (1) is important if you want to be able to use a HUD. If you're just playing zone tables or rarely having long sessions, then (2) is fine. In most circumstances I would recommend doing both (1) and (2) and having a separate database for each one.
If you can't figure it out and need help, then just reach out again.
Hello,
I added you on discord for a coaching inquiry
I'm impressed by Leak Buster. In what ways does your analysis go beyond what Leak Buster can do?
I'm impressed by Leak Buster. In what ways does your analysis go beyond what Leak Buster can do?
I would specifically need to ask FreakDaddy how Leak Buster processes the stats to understand what precisely it is doing/comparing to for the outputs, but I believe at least for some of the values it is going to be based on results rather than values. This alone would obviously cause issues as you can very much easily be doing a lot of things right and still end up losing money--even more true for small samples and situations that do not come up often (the converse of this situation is also true--that is winning a lot but doing the wrong things). Furthermore, I doubt (but do not know) it's really going to understand the nuances for many things. There are situations in which it may be reasonable to be doing more of X or less of Y in any number of situations and a software such as Leak Buster is likely going to be a more catch-all type approach.
So, without explicitly understanding how Leak Buster works for it's output and what it is specifically referencing, with a coach in a 1 on 1 setting you would have a human input that would be able to interpret a lot of that nuance and that alone should be quite worthwhile.
Also, for my database analysis I go through all of the stats/filters in real time utilizing PT4 so students that also use that software can repeat much of what I'm doing in the future by referencing the recording. Upon request I also give my students all the custom quick filters and custom stats that are utilized during the lesson.
Additionally, and likely most important, you would be able to ask me questions in real time, so that if you are not understanding something I should be able to assist in that regard in a lot more ways than a software may be able to.
So, in conclusion:
1. more nuance/ability to interpret other factors which may skew results/needs
2. increase in student's ability to navigate PT4 software, and even in the absence of utilizing that specific software it should still translate into a better understanding of how to use other software similar to it (including drive hud 2, hand2note, hold'em manager, etc.) in order to either identify our own leaks and improve them and/or identify the leaks of our opponents'/populations' leaks and exploit them
3. ability to ask for clarification or ask questions specifically or even tangentially related to the subject matter
He did a database analysis of 55k of my hands and I'm entirely satisfied. Reasonable cost, very specific, actionable suggestions.
Hi - are you still working/coaching?
Yes, I am. I will note that I'll be mostly unavailable in may/june of this year, but prior to that I have availability. You can PM me here or add me on discord to discuss if I'd be a good fit for what you're looking for. If you have general questions regarding coaching, then you can also ask here.
Thanks, will PM
