[Qing Yang] [$320/h] NLHE Theory [Verified]

[Qing Yang] [$320/h] NLHE Theory [Verified]

Who am I?
Qing Yang aka QY, Elite Coach at Run It Once. I played 10/20 live for most of my career, and about 4 years ago I started coaching on the side. As of this post I’ve worked with more than 100 students, and my RIO videos are among the most well-received on the site.

What are your rates?
$200/h
$1000 for 6h
$1600 for 10h

Packages come with worksheets, pio sims, spreadsheets, as well as long term support in the form of a study group.

Who is this coaching aimed at?
Anyone who wants to improve their theoretical knowledge. I have worked with players from 1/2 live to 1knl online, and feedback has been excellent across the board. Check out my testimonials here.

What makes you different from other coaches?
To my knowledge, most coaches go over various common situations (BTN open BB call, SB 3b vs BTN call etc), and talk you through these spots individually. Instead of doing that, I focus on the underlying concepts that tie them together. For example, on AK high boards as the IP 3bettor, we cbet hands like Kx and QQ, despite them not needing much protection. Whereas for BTN open vs BB call, we prefer to play these hands as a check. The underlying concept that ties these two spots together is that marginal hands are more inclined to bet when we have a big range advantage, and identifying this will strengthen your understanding of the game as a whole.

Basically, I have managed to distill thousands of hours of solver work into a handful of key concepts, and understanding these concepts will improve your play in any spot--even the ones we don't cover.

What else do you offer?
Over the course of our sessions, you will also learn how to study with solvers more efficiently. There is a massive amount of useless information in every solve--I’ll show you how to filter out the noise, and focus on what’s important. I’ll also show you how to put theory into practice with GTO trainers, and give you a roadmap to keep improving on your own.

Isn’t $200/h a little expensive?
Frankly, $200/h is a steal. There are coaches who charge similar rates for hand reviews--imo focusing on concepts is a much more efficient way of learning, because it automatically addresses many of the hands you are not sure about.

On top of that, you’ll also be working with a well-established coach with a ton of positive reviews. Bear in mind my content has improved a lot over the years, and I have not increased my rates by that much.

If you want a better idea of what to expect, you can check out my videos on RIO. I have 10 videos from my time as an Essential coach that you’ll be able to access for $25/mo. Whether or not you are planning to sign up, I recommend watching these 10 videos as an extremely cost-efficient way of building good fundamentals.

You can also check out my Youtube channel, although the content there is a bit more basic.

Cheers, and don’t hesitate to leave a comment or PM if you have any questions! You can also contact me by filling in a form on my website.

Update: Rates are now
$320/h
$1700 for 6h
$2500 for 10h

Hello

I booked the 10 session package with QY and was very pleased with the results. He is able to explain complex concepts in simple, easy to understand ways and uses lots of different analogies to make his points. As the comment above says, QY does a very good job of meeting you at your level of understanding and tailoring the lessons to you, even within a relatively structured 10 lesson package. There was no stupid questions and he was good at adjusting his lessons on the fly to answer any questions I had.

On top of this he is easy to get along with and communicates well. I would highly recommend QY's coaching and of the 3-4 coaches I have hired in my life he is by far my favourite and excellent value for money.

I think that the problem of learning poker is effectively reducible to finding good heuristics and learning how to execute them. Solvers are obviously a helpful tool for this but if the information gleaned by them is fragmented they are of little help. Qi gives an excellent framework for translating the raw output of solvers into meaning - in both the sense that he gives you his own heuristics and he reveals processes for discovering new ones. Excellent investment for anyone looking to improve their game (I bought 10 video sessions).

I have to say that I want to give Qing a good review on everything that he is doing. He's clearly very knowledgeable about poker, very fair about information and helps you also in a discord chat.

I highyl recommend for anyone trying to play poker seriously and or for a living to really contact and seek really good players like Qing to help in the future. He is well worth the investment to improve your game. His rates are also very fair as well, for what you get, for a very high level player and thinker like Qing. There are coaches that charge way more than him and do not provide as much content or information as he does. Also when we did our sessions for one hour we routinely went over the hour consistently and he did not hold me to the minute.

I would suggest for anyone who is thinking about trying out with Qing that they do so, some of his (free) youtube content is also very good.

I Have just completed my 10 hour package with QY and the whole course from the very first lesson to the last lesson has been an amazing eye opening experience. QY is excellent at breaking the game down into what is important and what is just noise, he then explains the important topics to you through analogy's, sims, and other material giving you all the tools you need to succeed long into the future.

QY is easy going and never once did i feel pressured or silly for saying the wrong thing his manner is perfect for the learning process

The biggest joy of the course for me was noticing as QY taught me and I did the work he set out over the weeks I could feel my own mental framework building and topics that once were hard to grasp became second nature,

Thanks QY (Iain)

I booked a 10 session package and had a great experience working with QY. He's super sharp and has a great way of breaking things down. I was an amateur when it came to studying game theory, but he is very capable of teaching anyone of any skill level. What I noticed right away is it seems like he quickly gets how you learn and adapts to it. So if there's something you're not getting, he's has a great ability to explain it in a way that you will understand best.

He genuinely enjoys teaching, he's not just trying to earn a buck. Our sessions would typically last an hour but if we're in the middle of something he always finishes explaining it and isn't stressed if the lesson goes over by ~10 minutes. He has a discord group where a bunch of students post questions and he answers them publicly too so there's more value added besides what you get in a session with him.

Very nice guy too, highly recommend.

I recently completed the 10-hour coaching package with QY, and I wholeheartedly
agree with the sentiments expressed by previous posters in this thread.

If you enjoy QY's YouTube, RunItOnce or GTOWiz videos, you'll love the coaching sessions.
Over the course of those 10 hours, QY lays out the fundamental GTO principles, how
to study/drill them and how to apply them exploitatively in practice.

Beyond the exceptional poker content, QY is a genuinely pleasant and friendly guy.
He was always attentive and considerate during our sessions.

In summary, I can highly recommend QY as a poker coach.

Finished the 10-hour package with QY, and it is by far the best teaching I have ever received for poker. I've gone through a lot of poker educational content, including many $1,000+ courses, but QY's coaching curriculum teaches theory in a far more elegant fashion than any of those sources have. He also talks about how we should play in practice and how we can adjust from theory to exploit opponents. I heavily recommend him to anyone who wants to understand the game at a deeper level and learn how to crush!

I completed a 10-hour package with QY. I learned a lot, improved my understanding of the game, and learned eye-opening concepts. QY explains them in a didactic and practical way.
The classes improved my understanding of GTO principles, how to apply them, and what factors to consider when thinking exploitatively.

Thanks to the classes with QY, I am more equipped to continue my poker journey more efficiently and strategically.
I recommend 100% these classes to anyone looking to level up their game.

hi, your name sounds like a chinese name, so can you use chinese for coaching? (ps: like your vid on wiz)

I just completed a 10-hour package with QY - here are some of my thoughts (for some background, play 500NL on Ignition + GGPoker, come from a pure MDA exploitative background from a CFP stable):

- QY breaks down all the fundamental concepts starting from first principles. I initially thought that a lot of these concepts would be review but every session I had with QY was eye-opening and changed the way I looked at the game. Going through the game brought a lot of the leaks/misconceptions to light since you are forced to hold them against the concepts we developed.

- QY has a novel approach to packaging theory concepts that I don't think I've seen anywhere before. The process of developing them together also helped make them feel very natural/intuitive.

- We developed a process for developing gameplans and drilling that greatly improved my study approach. I now have a clear approach to studying all the different spots/textures in the game tree while organizing the information in a way that isn't overwhelming.

- Going through BB defense and 3BP OOP PFR was very valuable since we learned a lot of concepts which translate over to other spots very well. It also really helped me think about the way we develop exploits that span multiple streets.

Aside from the content, the Q&A style of our lessons really resonated with me. QY is very friendly and receptive to all of my questions (even if some of them felt silly to ask). It's hard to overstate the value of explaining and questions concepts with someone who understands theory at such a deep level. The overall coaching environment made me feel very comfortable doing this.

I can't recommend working with QY enough - one of the best investments I have made in my poker career!

10 hours with QY was enough to offer me a fresh approach on the various concepts that someone needs to understand how gto works. Even for someone like me who doesn't speak English fluently the sessions were crystal clear and easy to digest. QYs coaching immediately helped to fix some leaks on my game but secondly ,and most important, it showed me the way to evolve further. Hiring a coach is probably one of the most +EV investments a poker player can make and QY meets all the expectations.

Eye opening coaching experience. You will not regret it.

Hey Jason, sorry for the late response.

Yes I do coach in Chinese as well. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions!

I just completed 10 hours with QY and I genuinely feel smarter and more prepared than I did before these sessions. Poker theory was very intimidating to me at first so I always avoided it. However, he makes sure to only focus on what matters and explains it in a way they can be understood by players of all levels. I guarantee there are concepts you think you know, but you may not have the clearest understanding of. That is where the value comes in from these sessions. I've been playing 10+ years without any real sound strategy behind my decisions. Now I have a framework for the game that I can literally use forever in any format.

If you are SERIOUS about improving than you absolutely need to meet with QY! Highly recommend.

just finished my 10 hours package with QY.
honestly it's the first thing i would recommend to every poker player that looking to understand poker concepts deeply, and QY knows how to make it accessible for every level.
He is taking your theory understanding to a whole new level, and also gives you the tools to continue practice and grow as a poker player on your own.
anyone that's thinking about it, go for it, worth every $$!!!

good luck to you all, and thanks again QY!

I recently had the pleasure of taking poker lessons with QY, and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is considering improving their game. Originally, we signed up for 10 classes, but we enjoyed his teaching style so much that we ended up buying 15!

I’m an NL1k player online, so my understanding of poker was already somewhat high when I started the coaching. Even so, QY’s deep theoretical knowledge of the game truly sets him apart. He’s not just someone who knows poker; he understands every nuance and can articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively. No matter how many questions we had—and trust me, there were a lot—he always had a thoughtful answer. There is so much noise in poker education nowadays, a lot of data points and if one doesn't know what to focus on, it is easy to get lost. QY cuts through the bullshit, and points out what is important and what isn't. He also has an excellent ability to break down complex ideas into easily understandable concepts, in other words: he is an excellent teacher.

If you're looking to take your poker skills to the next level, I highly recommend QY. He’s a fantastic teacher with a unique grasp of the game that’s hard to find, even at higher levels.

Coming from a data background, I've had the pleasure of learning theory from QY. His expertise in the subject has considerably improved my game as a professional player. If you want to master the game, QY's coaching is necessary.

I recently took 10+5 extra lessons with QY. It was way over my expectations even though I saw his YT channel before it, where he posts useful videos. I highly recommend him, the lessons are as dynamic as the videos. I play HS but I am/was struggling with theoretical knowledge, but now I feel way more confident in this topic.
He was my first non-CFP coach, it was really worth the price! I will take extra lessons from him in the future when I will have some questions.
Gl and thank you QY!

Do you do group coaching for 2. Also helpful if some parts of theory could be explained in chinese。

Yes I do group coaching, and I regularly coach in chinese.

You can add me on Discord @keuwai

Recently finished 10 hours with QY, and I would highly recommend hiring him as a coach. I play 5/10 and 10/20 live poker and was already a big winner. I learned a ton from QY's teachings and I feel like I have a much better understanding of theory, how to use solvers to study on my own, and how to exploit certain live player tendencies. It was a pleasure working with him.

I just finished the 10 hour course with QY. My background is that I am a working stiff who plays live casino poker as a hobby about 250 hours a year over the past 10 years, and spends a few hours each week studying poker in my spare time. I have a pretty big winrate at 2/5 especially over the past 6 years, and have begun studying GTO in earnest over the past year and a half. I decided I wanted to try a poker coach for the first time, and maybe move up to $5/$10.

The thing that interested me the most about this training was the fact that it was not a continual coach, but instead gave me the tools to allow for me to study on my own and improve on my own. The course delivered in this aspect, but beyond that, he also gave tons of information that will improve my game right now, before I even fully implement my own studying regime.

If you like his youtube videos you will definitely like his class. The multiway pots class and the exploits class were two of my three favorite classes, so I am glad I went for the full 10 hour package, even though the 6 hour came with the stuff I was originally looking for as far as learning how to study with solvers.

I might be different than a lot of the other people on here, in that my main goal with poker is to have fun, so I simply wouldnt do a training if it wasnt enjoyable to me. I was a bit worried that it might end up feeling like I was back in a tough college math class, but it wasnt that way at all. I found this course to be a ton of fun. QY is a cool guy and his class was not just interesting but has a very conversational and relaxed feeling despite the dense topics and the huge amount of information that was coming my way.
