Poker Learning Management System

Poker Learning Management System

I've been a student of poker most of my adult life. My studenthood has taken many forms: forum lurker/poster, reader of books, watcher of videos, and (relevant to our discussion here) coaching recipient. I've taken coaching around mindset and strategy, covering a handful of games (LHE, NLHE, tourney). One observation I made was that none of my coaches ever used any kind of repeatable assessment or measure of my skill. It was always very much a 'shoot from the hip' kind of interaction.

Don't get me wrong. The guys I coached with were good and could probably topple an antique can off a fence while shooting from the hip... but it left me wondering why. So I decided to find out.

Earlier this year, I reached out to a number of you to engage in some research. I've put together a report of our findings. It's yours when you join the waitlist, or if you and I did an interview earlier this year, check your inbox. One finding is that coaches are spending between 15-min to 2 hours of prep, admin, and analysis for every hour coached. Based on this research, I have created a dedicated Poker Learning Management System. It's called stratagem and I will be opening it up to beta testers in early 2026, launching by end of spring.

If you're curious, check out the site: https://stratagem.poker. If you're interested, join our discord. If you want to hit me up directly, find me at [email protected]. My name is Jason.

I've had a unique work history and have spent the past 15 years building and deploying community-designed media, services, and software for mental health, language reclamation, and digital storytelling. I'm bringing my eclectic mix of talents to bear on the principal problem that I see facing the poker community and marketplace today: poker is no longer dominated by a lack of knowledge discovery (solvers and massive compute are solving that), it is now facing a massive issue of knowledge translation. The more we solve, the more complex the game trees become, and the more we require contextualization and heuristic insight. This is the key skill that you as coaches bring to the table.

This problem will not be solved by creating yet another poker YouTube-style training site. Coaches require two-way communications built on a data system that can handle the unique nuance of poker. That's what stratagem is. I'm building out a set of tools to enable coaches to manage rosters, curriculum, and training data. The vision is to allow coaches to repeatedly monetize their wisdom without redundant content creation and grow their roster without unnecessary overhead.

And I'm hoping to do it with you. The first phase of this work was user-informed, and I intend to keep operating with that in mind.

If this sounds interesting, hit me up. Contact details and discord are on the site: https://stratagem.poker. Let's work together to enable you to scale your coaching practice.

Best,
Jason
