Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan

Horton isn't one of my guys for BB, but I could see it being okay for Dynasty

Ah I thought you were a Horton guy, my bad haha

I've decided that I'm going to make one (JUST ONE) team with a solo QB and solo TE.

I'm thinking it would be better in a contest like the Marathon, or would it be better in something like BBM where it'll be more unique.

The math shows this is a pretty negative ev strategy, but I guess one couldn't hurt haha.

I think it'd be better in BBM than the Marathon, since you can probably survive your draft pod with two guaranteed zeros in BBM, whereas I don't see how you win the contest in the Marathon with 2 guaranteed zeros, since there will be plenty of teams who have your QB/TE and didn't take zeros those weeks.

With that said, in BBM, if your QB/TE are good enough to carry you to the finals, they're going to be chalk. And you have no QB/TE outs to win the contest and simply need to hope your RBs/WRs are unique enough to win with that QB/TE combo.

The Marathon was taking forever, so I just did my solo onesie in a BBM. I couldn't bring myself to do solo QB and TE though.

Lamar

Hampton, BRob, Warren, Tracy, Braelon, Hill, Corum

Puka, Ladd, Zay, Olave, Reed, McMillan, Dyami, Malik

Kraft, Ferguson

Good points. I can see the theory behind it (more shots at Flex)

Plus, looking at the team Liam had when he won BBM2

Allen and Fields were his QBs. Fields didn't play weeks 16/17 or on his bye week. So he essentially ran a solo QB team.

But I still think it adds another level of luck and I'm not risk adverse enough to make a lot of teams like that.

I may do one more on DK and then go back to my normal strategies.

I think the smaller the final, the more viable it can be. Liam's final was only something like 160, so it's basically tripled+ since then. And then the Milly would be even worse than BBM, with that final being twice as much. The bigger the final, the more likely you're eaten by the chalk.

If I did it, I think I'd rather do it with a mid round rushing upside QB like Fields, Kyler or Caleb compared to chasing it with one of the top 4. Trevor or Maye could be other good candidates, since they both have rushing upside too. If you're going to push the edges, might as well take it a step further and bet on a lower priced being a value and finishing in the top 2-3, which is what you'll need for it work. I think the same goes for TE. Instead of your 1 being Bowers, McBride or Kittle, maybe you chase it with someone like Andrews, Njoku, etc.

Guys that have shown the upside in the past to be top 3 at their position.

And then by doing it in with middle round QBs/TEs instead of high priced, that gives you two more shots at hitting big at RB/WR in the earlier rounds.

But I could be wrong on that theory.

new contests on UD. Not really interested in the GS. Would rather just do the Puppy SF at $5

Schnauzer

Dak, Dart, Sanders

Bucky, Chase, Mason, Tracy, Shipley

CD, DK, Pickens, Jeudy, Shakir, McMillan, Slayton

Njoku, Kincaid, Ertz

I'll probably fire it all, but yeah, the GS is definitely not a high upside contest with that prize pool. However, the w15/w16 advance rates plus finals size is fun. On average, you're 3.33x more likely to make the finals in the GS compared to the Puppy.

Just because I'm so high on them everywhere else, I may completely fade Miami in the Schnauzer 2, or have 2 builds with them at most.

Nice, I think that's a good strategy.

I'm about to be in slow draft hell lol.

I'll probably max out the Schnauzer last of what's currently available. The first Schnauzer had the exact same structure and was open from 4/28 to 6/1. The fact that the first half was open before the schedule release probably slowed it a little bit. But a 20 max contest with 186k entrants will take a while to fill.

I knew they would drop a bunch of contests while I was out of the country haha

Haha, you'll be itching to draft as soon as you touch down in the states, pun intended.

I plan on doing 10 this week (maybe all today lol), and the rest at the end of July.

wtf. guess I might need to add him to a few stroud teams

Probably still a bad click on UD. I could see a small sprinkle in the 20th on DK, because the players by that point are all disgusting. But I’ll keep ignoring him for now.

This is an interesting read through.

Fields, Ward

Hampton, Chuba, BRob, Blue, Shipley, James

Puka, AJB, Wilson, Olave, Shakir, Higgins, Dyami

Kincaid, Ferguson, Chig

I think this is the fewest badges I've seen in a draft

Haha wow that's crazy. What contest is that?

Haha wow that's crazy. What contest is that?

Schnauzer.

Tried pushing Burrow to the 6/7 that didn't work, and then got sniped on Mahomes and Murray. Managed to come out okay. The last pick was randomized between Kmet and Keaton M.

Caleb, Maye, Dimes

Judkins, Pollard, Mondre, Guerendo, Shipley

Chase, Rice, DK, DeVonta, Burden, QJ, ADM

McBride, Henry, Kmet

RB room might be a little light for 5, but I think it can work.

Speaking of RB rooms, I tried to experiment in the German Shepherd. It did not turn out very well. I never build this way, so that played a part in poor execution.

I think I could do this structure again and make it work, but I need adjust where I'm drafting the TEs. I could maybe able to get away with a 3-4-8-3. I also missed Geno 18 picks past ADP in the 16th, because I was so focused on not being ****ed at TE lol.

Brock, Stroud, Dart

Jeanty, Henry, Breece, Mixon

Jamo, Rome, Golden, Aiyuk, Bateman, Bech, Doubs, Noel, Slayton

Schultz, Theo

All depends on which Mixon shows up lol

Schnauzer number 1. Pick 9

I hoped to get Gesicki but he went a round early.

I was gonna get a third TE since they both had week 12 off but decided to get Dart to go with Nabers. Maybe a mistake. I am concerned about Tua staying healthy. I wish I would have passed on Burrow and taken Mahomes 3 rounds later.

QB) Burrow, Tua, Dart

RB) C Brown, Conner, Stevenson, Ekeler, Dobbins, Giddens

WR) Nabers, AJ Brown, Worthy, Golden, Downs, Bech, Dyami

TE) Jonnu, Engram.

Haha I’m still pretty into Mixon, but I’m slightly worried about his recent injury reporting.

Also a blurb about Tank in this thread. Basically, it’s very unlikely he’ll be able to play again before w17.

It depends on which Chubb shows up.
