Because a 3 is lower than a 4

Here is an easy way to look at it - let's count the A as 1.

Look at the numbers, which one is lower? The one that is lower is going to be the one that wins low in a Hi/Lo game.

86,532
86,541

I understand that as low part A is lower than 3. So, why 3 won ?

If A as 1, why 86532 won? I don't get it, please enlighten me.

Because the 4th card has priority over the 5th card. You only need to look at the 5th card if all the first 4 cards are the same. Just like you only looked at the 4th card because the first 3 cards were the same. After you put the cards in correct order, you literally don't need to look at the Ace at all, it does not matter.

Did you understand which of the two 5 digit numbers were smaller? It's elementary school math - the "tens" column is bigger than the "ones" column, so it is more important when determining which number is larger or smaller.

86532 > 86541 The > means "is greater than".

In Omaha, for the low, the one which is greater loses you want to have the lowest hand (smallest number) possible.

Here are the first several best hands, along with some others, in order from best to worst:

5432A
6432A
6532A
6542A
6543A
65432
7432A
7532A
7542A
7543A
75432
7632A
...
8652A
8653A
86532 *
8654A *
86542
86543
...
87653
87654 (this is the worst qualifying low hand)

basically, if your low was 8432A and villian had 76543 - villian would win high to low NOT low to high

although I dont think the above could happen. thinking about it

Very clear, thank you.

Actually i made one mistake, I put 86532 > 86541, when it should have been the opposite based on my explanation.

86532 is a better low hand than 8654A, but the number 86541 is higher.

Hopefully my list is all correct though.
