Relearning Poker After a Long Break
I was a decent poker player back in the early 2010s but life got in the way — 5 kids, a business, and I pretty much missed the GTO train. I still play occasionally but I’m trending from slightly winning / break-even to clear fish territory.
We’re about to head off on a year-long caravan trip with the family. I’m an early riser and will have 2 hours each morning to focus on re-learning poker.
Context:
Prefer live cash (2/3 – 5/10) but will mostly be playing 0.25–0.50 online
Enjoy tournaments more than cash, but multi-day events aren't realistic right now
Plan is to get solid at online cash before touching tournaments again
What I’m looking for:
Structured learning (not just “here’s 3,000 random videos”)
Something to rebuild fundamentals and get me back to being a competent player
Ideally with guidance on how to study, not just what to study
Considering:
Run It Once “From the Ground Up” and “The Game Plan” (keen to hear from people who’ve used them)
GTO Wizard – also open to course recommendations that teach how to use it effectively
Udemy’s “Crush Micro Stakes Online Poker” – is this a decent way to break even at micros again?
Any other course/platform suggestions are appreciated. Looking to make the most of the time I’ve got.
