In this sense, the boom is long since over. Sponsorship dollars for poker players are scant these days.
as noted earlier, few players make good money from it.. negreau might be one
Bout tree fiddy
Back in the day they had cash sponsorship, where now it seems like they pay in things like free tournament buy-ins, or a percentage of the rake in tournaments or games the players advertise. Being a poker pro nowadays is basically like working some shitty sales commission job.
Speaking as someone who has played poker for a living since 2008, being a poker pro is like working some shitty sales commission job, except that in sales your income is always positive-definite.
I listened to Rampage on the Nick Vertucci Podcast recently (don't judge me, please) and I was surprised to hear him say that WPT Global pays him six figures per year. Given that he is one of the most popular vloggers, I would guess that is far more than the average pro makes.

He started off doing 1/3 vlogs and now he's playing some of the highest stakes cash games on livestream. I heard he's on a bit of a downswing lately, but people will tune into watch him play whether he wins or loses. 10 or 20 years ago Rampage would've made more than 100k.
This stupid thread is going to keep showing up in my control panel as unread until somebody posts to it.
