How much would cashing out in all-in hurt our winrate?

Hey guys,

I have been thinking about the cashout option, I know in general we shouldn't be cashing out because it's an extra rake and therefore lower EV except in a few nuance cases. But I'm wondering if anyone did any in-depth analysis how much would that hurt our win rate in terms of bb/100 if we would use cash-out every time?

I mean it's true that we cash out in big pots and let's say on PokerStars they charge 2% to the value of our hand so it's not even the full pot. So if the pot is 200BB and our equity is 50% that would be what 2bb?

Also, does anyone know if this extra rake is counted towards rakeback in case it is, and if we have 30% rakeback then the extra rake would only be more like 1.4BB? Which yes it's not nothing but on the other hand I have seen some people run extremely under EV for a decent period of time and if you're playing something close to mid-stakes that can be a serious amount of money.

Also if we're cashing out perhaps our anxiety level during play would be slightly lower since we know we will always get the full equity of our hand so that gives us some peace of mind. Of course pretty sure it would also prevent some tilt especially if we had a bad week or month where losing 3 or 5 flips in a row would put us on tilt for that session for those of us whose mental game is not at 100% just yet.

So yeah just wondering if anyone did any in-depth math on it?

Actually you know you will never get full equity of your hands as to get full equity the cost needs be $0 and it is not $0.

It would depend on how often you are doing it. If you cashed out on average 1% of the hands you played and paid an average of 2BB you would be lowering your win rate by 2BB/100, which is not an insignificant amount. Most players cannot sustain a win rate much higher than 5-6 BB/100, so that would be a fairly large price to pay.

If you are that concerned about getting stacked, maybe you are playing stakes that are too high? Nobody wants to lose a stack, but it shouldn’t be something that causes serious consternation when it happens. If you can’t shrug off losing a stack or two and go on playing your A game, then either work on your mental game, or if it actually is the money that bothers you, drop down in stakes. Remember - you are SUPPOSED to lose your stack sometimes. There is nothing you can do about it in some spots.
