Do people still play poker online professionally
I used to play cash games between 2006-2011 and I never made explicit decision to quit, but I suppose I just got very bored of it and found other things to do. I haven't been following what has happened in poker probably since 2012, but now I got curious is it still possible to make money in it? Are people still profitably grinding HLHE and/or PLO online, or has the legislation, rake structures, bots etc completely dried the games? If people still play professionally, where? And what are the most popular games and stakes? What the realistic win rates look like?

Great post!!
Yes. Many fakes too,but they tend to disappear in time.
Yes, professional players continue to play online poker, but the landscape has changed. Competition is tougher, and profitability depends largely on a commitment to learning and constantly adapting to new strategies and technologies.
I'm curious about this as well as just the current state of poker as a whole. I would like to start playing online regularly but need a little more of a reason than I enjoy it.
I play frequently on Bovada, PLO, low stakes, max $5/$10. It feels fishy, I think the competition is a lot stiffer than live but really seems as if some players actively use solvers. I think, if I had easier access to casinos or card rooms, I wouldn't touch online but sadly I'm 2 hours away from my nearest card room.

To translate adapting to new technologies means cheating.
They have MTT pros, and there are some players playing online ring games. Many 'online cash game pros' are eventually ousted as cheaters, but I'm sure there are a minority of genius types crushing still, and some highly skilled players making a light amount of bb/hour.
I'm likely in the minority, but I'd like a poker room with face cams, 'check ins', and table specific voice chats; I'd also like to see the ability to table select removed, and the dead cards added back to the deck to limit the amount of collusion that can occur. Check-ins would require the user to write a randomly selected word on a piece of paper or white board to prove they aren't false face cams at random times. Maybe a 'vote to kick' or 'vote to mute' for players abusing comms.
In every online game ever, they have voice chat. It also increases the fun in the games when you can communicate with others, as well as add the ability for speech plays online.
In 2025, there's no reason not to have face cams and voice chat, but like I said, I'm probably in the minority.
