Private games with sky high rake beatable?
At what point is the game unbeatable?
I play a 3/6$ with 15$ standup game
private game
But the rake is 10bb 5%
At what point is the game unbeatable?
How should I be changing my play style to try and not get butt fked by the rake

this game is unbeatable and I don't think it's particularly close. If the rake is 10% 10bb cap that is taking absurd amounts of money out of the game each hand. Think of the bb/100 required to even break even in this game, it's gonna be something ridiculous like 80bb/100 which unless you are in a game with exclusively whales isn't gonna happen.
To not get screwed by rake (if you are dumb enough to play in this game) is to play ABSURDLY tight aggressive. All marginal spots in no rake are heavily losing in this game. Look at the EV of hands in preflop sims on GTOwiz - most hands are marginal in most spots and the rake makes all of these -EV
that rake is insane, but rake aside your bigger concern is getting cheated
easy pass for me - idc how soft it is, you can't beat that rake
only chance is playing 10 handed as a short stack taking a shove/fold approach and even then probably not beatable

I am actually backed by the house
But Iβm currently in make up and Iβm unsure if the game is profitable.
10% uncapped is beatable if you play with bad enough players. It's all about the players.
strong disagree here
unless dominated, you are usually no worse than 30% to win, if dominated then 20%
against a normal better hand vs weaker hand it's a 60/40 split - but then you're dealing with them actually having the better hand a decent amount as well
with a 10% uncapped rake in a heads up game, assuming all pots are the same size, you need to win roughly 56% of the time in order to break even
good heads up specialist pros usually win 49-54% in showdown - in fact, if they win outside that range it's indicative of a leak
obviously it's far more complex than this, especially with others at the game, but the point stands that you can't just be better than the competition - they need to be absolute garbage donators and you need to know exactly how to exploit this
frankly, if he's playing for the hosts, he should get some form of rakeback
90% of 1/3 players donβt beat 10% capped at $5+$2, nobody is beating uncapped rake. Plus, the way you adjust to high rake is by playing super tight, which would lead to you probably not being invited back anyway.
I wasn't talking about HU obv. It's an extreme example obv but like 10-15 years ago a lot of the UG games that at least I knew had like 10%, very high cap or sometimes even uncapped. I heard from quite a few other places that it was similar. The games were still worth it because they consisted mostly of completely clueless, often highly intoxicated peeps, giving off the most obv tells. That's why I said it's all about the players. I dunno but I could certainly see that nowadays it would be much more difficult to find such a game.
Why is everyone saying 10% uncapped, when the post clearly says 5% 10BB? They are not even in the same universe of comparison
5% 10BB is high but certainly beatable, especially if stacks play deep and you are towards the top of your pool
In fact 5% 10BB is literally identical to micro-stakes on many online sites (GGP NL10) which also has max buyin of 100BB... Even 50NL on GGP is 5% 8BB... and I have to imagine the GGP pool is much tougher than your private game, otherwise you should not play in it
Unsure about the beatable rake but imo the whole point of private games is to play whales for very little to no rake whatsoever
