What is the most you’ve tilted off in one night or lost over the course of a bad run?

Between the run bad just continuing to run bad for longer than I can even begin to describe, we’re now down about 17,000 over the course of two months. I went from up 10,000 on the year to down 7000.

Sure, I’ve tilted off some here and there in a couple of sessions, but when you’re getting it in with the nuts and still losing for weeks on end and the cards just never seeming to fall your way, tilting a little is inevitable

Five card Omaha. One hell of a drug. Just say no. Not even once.

I love Omaha, but they never spread it when I’m there. I’m a fairly tight Hold’em player, but I am very extremely super extra tight nit playing Omaha. The only way to win.

I offer what works for me, though it may not be applicable in your situation. I don’t tilt, losing doesn’t bother me, I don’t get mad anymore.

If you spend any time around gambling, you will notice that streaks are real. You never bet against the trend - you either bet with it or you don’t bet at all. Many people go broke betting red, because it’s been coming up black or betting player, because banker has been running. Don’t bet against streaks!

Simple plan
I buyin to play and if I lose that buyin, I go home. Since I realized that it’s not the end of the world, if I’m not playing poker, my game has improved.

Key is that I’m not riding a ‘bad streak’
It makes me much harder to beat

At rooms all over the world, there are people losing 3, 4 or more buyins in a short amount of time. I see it all the time, I’m sure you do too. That becomes hard to recoup.

Finally, people find a lot of excuses for their lack of success. There’s a lot of variance and not as much teaching about Omaha. You have to own up to the fact that you’re making mistakes, if you want to correct them.

Not saying this is you (just trying to help), but many people get so mad about a beat, when they played a hand that should have been folded pre-flop.

Finally, there are people that just play for fun, and the money means nothing to them. There are a ton of motivations for playing the game. You have to determine your goals.

I can’t afford to lose, I’m a poor old retired guy with a fixed income. I can fold for hours if necessary - looking for every edge and not making ‘what the heck’ plays. I play to win, and a bad day doesn’t cost me much. I’m very grateful for a good day. Maybe I rambled too much, but hopefully gave you some things to think about.

I take it you've never heard of the gambler's fallacy.

None of what you wrote here is true. It is all a delusion. You think the roulette ball knows what number and color it landed on the last spin, or the last 10 spins? Dream on.

The point is when you follow the streak you won’t go broke ever, but if you buck it you often will.

You are a simpleton talking math
Thanks for chiming in

You know nothing about gambling
Read something in a book and think you’re an expert and missed the entire point.
The delusion is you

You put yourself out there to try and help people, I guess you expose yourself to the riff raff. There’s no misunderstanding on the odds of something happening, but what smart alec doesn’t understand is that streaks do happen.

When betting it’s always smart to bet that it will continue to happen, ride the streak until it stops. If you bet against the streak, you risk more & more until it stops.

I guess it’s harder to explain than I thought. Bottom line is if the cards are running bad, you can expect them to continue in that direction.

The major point is not to run through several buyins in a couple of hours. Find discipline in whatever way that works for you, because no one can help you if you start playing bad.

Just an example, old hard rock-Vegas
Mini-baccarat
Me & Chinese guy are betting player on a run - two ‘no lights’ see 4 in a row and start betting banker saying it’s due - the run ends ten hands later, but the boys were doubling up and went broke after about six hands. The run ended, the Chinaman and I are flush, we fist bump, and off into the night.

Yes, there’s always an equal chance of player and banker.

I was doing really well with taking a few days off in between each session and coming back fresh too. I took the last two weeks off for example. Still didn’t help. Had top set on a dry board cracked in PLO this past weekend when I effectively got all in on the flop, among others, and I can’t take it any more. lol

I’m done now though until i hit the books (or videos online) and get back to where I need to be financially. Could be a while though. Admittedly.

Omaha will break your brain in ways Hold'em never does. Two months of that kind of run in PLO5 is genuinely brutal, top set getting cracked on a dry board feels like a personal attack. The variance in that game is so wide that even solid players can look completely lost for extended stretches. Taking time off and studying before reloading is exactly the right call.
