Non Aggressive Preflop Play By OMC costs me decent size pot
$600 multi day event.
Day 1 - Level 8
Blinds 500/1000/1000
Action: I probably have a solid tag image at the table. Doubled up early and have 50k and pick up A❤️K❤️ utg and open for 2200, OMC on my immediate left with about 13k left elects to call. Button calls, Big blind calls.
Flop: J♣️6♠️4♦️
BB checks, I check, OMC now goes all in for 13k - Button (40k) tanks and calls. BB folds, I fold. OMC has A♣️Q♦️, button holds with J♠️9♠️. I am thinking to myself that was my pot if OMC should have correctly shoved preflop instead of shoving into 4 players on the flop.
It's just an observation how bad play can adversely affect you by not taking a bad beat like most is discussed. And strategy wise - I've been thinking how do you combat a situation like this.

There is no way to combat this situation. You did the right thing by open raising 2.2x with AKs UTG with 50 blinds. You can't control when other players play bad. Jamming on the flop with AQ was incredibly dumb vs 3 other players especially because the only person who had admitted they missed the flop was you, but he gave it a try and failed.
OMC here was afraid to jam pre-flop because you were TAG. Personally with 13 blinds I would have jammed with AQ but I often don't against TAG players (though typically I have far more than 13 blinds - I typically choose not to 3-bet and just call). I have gotten knocked out late in the money with AQ when I 3-bet jam with <20 blinds vs UTG opens and now I typically just call and fold in the money if I miss.
Today I got knocked out in 179th late in Day 2 of the WSOP Super Senior Tournament when I 4-bet jammed AQo with 12 blinds. The 3-bettor was very aggro and had 40 blinds. I knew he would call I just thought his 3-bet could be wide. He had 99 and held.
