Big Blind Ante pot odds.
Hi, I have a simple question, but Google and even AI (it can't even calculate ordinary pot odds correctly) couldn't help. I'm watching Triton Poker and there's Ike Haxton on BB calling BTN push 5.4bb with 42o.
So, there are 2.4bb in the bank before push, of which 2bb was put by Ike.
If antes were betting by whole table, then player on BB would needed to call 4.4bb, not 4,4bb minus his ante, right? But in the Big Blind Ante situation, pro player clearly felt that only 3.4bb needed to be called. So where is the true?

Doesn't matter who paid the antes. If the shove is for 5.4bb then BB has to pay 4.4bb to call.
Ante only changes the pot odds because there's extra dead money in the pot.
maybe it was a mystery bounty?
Thank you, you're both right. But then it turns out that vs minraise from free positions, pot odds for the player on BB remain the same, whether it's Whole Table Ante or Big Blind Ante. It seems to me that they call very widely, garbage like Q3o, T5s. And it's as if even the commentators said that in the Big Blind Ante format, player on BB should play wider than usual..Clearly wrong approach.
I mean yes, it's little more dead money when BBA, since antes=1bb, while when whole table antes it's usually little less but could also be more than that sometimes? But apparently they compensate this by making SB= 0.4 bb..
I'll be playing the Monster Stack next week and have never played with BB ante so I've been heavily considering this. I hate the idea of the BB ante for a couple of reasons.
Madlex, I appreciate what you're saying but I think there's one instance where I'm wondering if my approach should be different. I have slightly different thoughts about risking a tournament than some others but let's say I'm also at a big money jump and up with a quarter of my stack in via BB and ante. I don't adjust my calling (all in) range one bit? I'm def ignorant to the theory of this but everything I seem to read is saying it should have no effect on how much I personally have in?
I'm sorry if this seems confusing, hopefully you get what I'm saying. I just want to be sure I correctly understand it.
Edit: or Mayne my shoving range utg?
Thanks
