MTT Cash Game Idea
10 tables
10 players per table
Buy-in $300 - $200 player/$100 House/Prize Pool
10 1 hour levels
Blinds are $1-$2
Every round begins with a Bomb Pot, player puts in $10, $20, $30, $40, $50, $60, $70, $80, $90, $100
At the end of every round, the player at each table with the lowest stack is eliminated.
1 Table is removed every round
When tournament ends, players keep what they have. No winner is required
Texas Poker rooms are social clubs that charge an hourly rate between $10-$15 per hour
From the $100 fee, $80 would go to the house for hourly rate, $10 towards food/beverage for 100 players, $10 goes to to prize pool (The player with the most money at the end gets either $1000 or prize equivalent.
A player doesn't have to lose all their money in the tournament. If they still have $1 or $200 or more at the end of a level, they can keep their money when they're in last place at their table at the end of a level.
This format can be applied to any stakes.
My vision is a 4 room poker establishment with this cash game tournament structure, daily.
Room 1: Low stakes $1-$2 and $2-$5
Room 2: Mid Stakes: $5-$10 and $10-$20
Room 3: High Stakes $25-$50 and $50-$100
Room 4: Elite Stakes $100-$200 and Above
My idea is inspired by the times we rapidly jump stakes when we play online. Trying to turn $10 into $10,000 in one night.
Implementing this ideas would allow players to jump stakes in a Live setting and also allow them to not risk losing their bankroll in one shot.

I actually thought of something along those lines but it was more a half cash game half tournament event. It would obviously take too long irl and have few entries, but there’s maybe some interesting ideas there.

Card Player long ago had an article by a guy who tried to turn $100 into $10000 playing LHE at the Commerce. I think he started at 4-8 and moved up every time he doubled his buyin. IIRC he got up to $4000 but got busted playing 200-400. IÂ’m sure hundreds were doing this every day online twenty years ago.
I do like the bomb pot idea for a cash MTT.
Something similar has been done to this in the UK for the APATs yearly, it's a cash game with a prize pool for stacks left as places paid, I want to say you can rebuy once but can't remember as last played it about 10 years ago. Interesting format as obviously goes pretty loco pretty fast

This idea is something I would be interested in as a participant not as a business owner.
If we could collaborate, as a community, on the pros and cons of this format and create a cohesive plan, maybe we could get casinos and poker social clubs to incorporate this into their repertoire.

I have no affiliation with them but have been a player there in the past. It's a huge social club and tons of action.
The drawbacks of this format would be the time it would take to to count the players chips at the end of each level and move one player from each table to a new table. What's the fastest way to do this? My live tournament experience is little.
All ten players at the new table are now out of the tournament and can continue to play a regular cash game.
This cycle would continue until the end of the tournament. The players eliminated from the tournament will have the option to continue playing cash games or leave. They will still have access to the food and services of the facility since they already paid the entrance fee.
Level 1 everyone begins with a $200 buy-in, at the lowest stake.
After the $10 bomb pot to start the round, everyone but the players who win it will have $190. Players technically could fold every hand throughout the round. Lowest stack on each table moves to cash table. If multiple stacks are even, the tie could be broken with the worst 5 card hand dealt to the players, cards face up, no betting.
There's a lot of logistics I'm not aware of.
Let's brainstorm a solution to make this happen. In my mind, it sounds very exciting and a great way to get more players into the game of poker.

Why would it take to long and have few entries?
What solutions could limit the time and increase entries?
Shorter levels, incentives, promotions could help.
ACR used to do something similar called The Cage.
Basically a timed tournament where you bought in once for X number of chips. $1k buyin, 1k chips for example. Then they would run for a several hours with blinds going up like an MTT.
When the time ran out, the players remaining cashed out based on their chip stacks. 1 chip = $1.

I think they werent popular because they are the worst of both formats.
Cash game players want to play deepstacked and the ability to rebuy if they go bust.
MTT players enjoy the top heavy nature of prize pools and the thrill of a deep run. Plus the complications that come from dealing with various stack sizes and ICM.
I think Global Poker runs timed SNGs. They try to market them for newer players and do small buy ins. <$10 You wont get much volume though, maybe two at a time at peak

What if unlimited rebuys were allowed, including the tournament fee. The accumulated fees go towards the prize pool. The prize pool is divided accordingly to all players remaining at the final table at the end of the 10th level.
With enough brainstorming and compromise, I'm optimistic a format could be created to satisfy both cash and MTT players equally.
If we players want a different MTT format that incorporates a cash structure with a rewarding payout, then we will to think outside the box.

The $100 fee goes towards the prize pool
100 players x $200 buy-in = $20,000 on the tables
100 players x $100 fee = $10,000 tournament fee
Would this fee be enough to run this 5-6 hour MTT format, to include facility, staff, dealers and food/beverage for players ($10 voucher to players that includes a catered meal and beverage)?
9 $300 rebuys allowed per player during the duration of the MTT. If you bust, you can rebuy, until the MTT ends. $200 goes to player, $100 goes to prize pool
If every player rebuys, this brings $200,000 on the tables
100 x 200 = $20,000
9 x $20,000 = $180,000
$180,000 + $20,000 = $200,000 on tables
9 rebuys x 100 players x $100 it's prize pool
$90,000 prize pool
Prize pool is paid to the top 3 stacks in the player pool with a 50/30/20 payout
1st: $45,000
2nd: $27,000
3rd: 18,000
All remaining players at the end can keep what they have.
