What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.
Brag: Shot 80 today on my home course (par 72) - I'm a 12 hand
88 44/44
10/14 fairways, 5/18 greens
1 birdie, 6 pars, 7 bogeys, 2 doubles and 2 triples.
2 1-putts, 3 3-putts. 37 putts all day.
Putter was much better today, in spite of not really making anything. When I missed, I missed by less than a foot.
Had it going for a while. First 3 holes +7, next 12 +4, last 3 +5. Still good for a few bad swings each round.
Hole of the Day
Par 5 I eagled a few weeks ago. (1) Hit a B+ drive that found the fairway but left me 270+ out. (2) Decide to hit easy 4-iron and hopefully leave myself an easy wedge in. Pull it hard left, so hard that it hit a building OB and bounced back into the left rough 170 yards or so out. (3) Slightly obscured by branches so I hit a low, closed face 5-iron that hooked beautifully and ran just off the back right pin high an inch into the rough. (4) Chipped within an inch. One more turn and it's in for birdie. (5) Tapped in for par.
Last 2 rounds I've started +7 thru 3 and +9 thru 3. My warm-up routine may warrant revision.
Did a first tonight and went Eagle, Eagle on the 1st 2 holes. Pitched in on the 1st, Drove the green on the 2nd to about 20 feet.
The rest of the 9 holes was shocking 😃
80s and sunny with 10-15mph winds. Gorgeous day to be playing golf.
Sent us off the back.
84 45/39
7/14 fairways, 7/18 greens.
1 birdie, 7 pars, 7 bogeys, 3 doubles.
4 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 34 all day. (20/14)
Best score of the year, but started 5 straight bogeys and had 20 putts on the first 9. Missed everything with the putter and only hit 2 fairways.
Made double from 130 yards out in the fairway on my 16th hole. Tree overhangs the fairway. I'm constantly in the fairway with no shot here. Punish me for being in the rough, not the fairway. Stupid hole.
Got lucky on 2 shots that went through trees unscathed.
Buried a 45-footer for birdie on the last hole to break 40 on the 2nd 9 and put me at +12, my best score to par since I started playing again 10 months ago.
Few days off now as it's cabin time.
Front 9 was pretty steady, shot a 46 with several missed 4-5 foot par putts which was frustrating.Starting on hole 10, I stopped finding any part of the club face and struggled through hole 15. Lost a bunch of balls. Managed to salvage a couple pars on the back 9 but it was not pleasant, posted 50 strokes on the back (+16) which included some equitable score control holes with
you almost triggered me with this because it's so relatable
solace in at least it was a walk up round on a whim instead of a trip you were looking forward to for months
88 44/44

what an impressive FIR and looks like you're feeling putt weight well
curious how much does 'less than a foot' mean short?

what an awesome way to start cabin time, congrats on the results

did delusions of us amateur grandeur invade your swing thoughts?

Ha!
I actually played the hard holes pretty well.
Hole 3 Par 5 I always struggle had a 8 feet birdie putt.
Then 190ish Par 3, Hit it just short and got up and down.
5th 120ish par 3. It's a easy wedge shot yet I decided to blade one and I had no shot. Ended up making a double.
6th is a 420 Par 4, I don't mind making 5 on here as long as I have a shot at Par, I did and just missed the putt.
7th Small Par 3 again... This time I hossled a wedge ended up making 4, Not sure where that come from never do that.
8th make a 5 on a easy par 4.
9th I'm think wtf and just try and drive the green end up going OB, To help speed of play grabbed a iron hit it down there hit a wedge shot to a tough flag to about a few inches easy 5 😃
So I went Eagle/Eagle/Par/Par/Double/Bogey/Bogey/Bogey/Bogey -4 to +2 real fast 😃
ha indeed!
appreciate you sharing
40 (par 36). No birdies, no double bogeys.
Most likely my best Tuesday night round of the season so far. Other than one hoseled wedge ball striking was acceptable. Putting was weird, I was awful on the long/lag putts, but money on anything 8 feet and in.
45-44-89*
I counted the par 5 9th as a 6 as I was getting around a foursome. Trying to get a round in before my flight and didn't have the time to go back.
I hit the ball so much better, but just couldn't score. I hit a 6i draw on the back nine that was only to the front of the green, but it was otherwise perfect... those shots keep me playing even if it's very limited.
44-43 this morning on a 71.3/134
5GIR 7 fairways 35 putts
6 pars 4 doubles no triples no birdies
Chipping was solid, putting was decent but just couldn’t get anything to drop.
hit a couple 95%+ percentile shots with 7i and 5w.
13.5 differential which is the best of my life by 5.
Unfortunately finished the round double, double, bogey with three penalty strokes in the final three holes. 16 was a short par 3 into the wind and decided to try to take an extra club to knock down and should’ve taken two extra clubs, lost in short hazard. 17 fanned a scoring iron wide and lost, and 18 I took less than driver on a 330 yd/tight driving hole and pulled into the lateral hazard.
Great round! Few things hurt my feelings like hitting less than driver and taking a penalty anyway, UGH.
I shot an 84 yesterday, which was my 5th time breaking 85 this year, along with an 85 and two 86s. Coming into the year, I had only broken 85 six times in my life, with one of them each in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Three total times from 1996-2021.
41-40-81. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 68.9/121/5904
Another average, maybe slightly above ball striking day. Scrambling was better than usual, with quite a few up and downs. Putting was fine. Didn't visit any sand.
fun seeing the improvement guys
Did this today.... (mind the dog and the messy bed 😃)

+2 (71) nett 66 in our Anniversary cup. First actual trophy event I've won had so many times I've come 2nd.
Played solid. Birdie Birdie start. Silly error on the 7th 100 yard par 3, It was windy today and it was helping on this hole. Normally I'd just hit a lob wedge and be fine today I wanted to keep it a little lower. Took a 54° today and just forgot to actually hit the ball and landed way short and went into a ditch. Took a drop and made a good 4. 9th was a pin you didn't want to attack as it was back right, played to safe and ended up with a 3 putt. Bogey on 12 just didn't get up and down from a bunker. 13th Par 3 missed the green and hit about a 5/10 pitch 2 putt for bogey. 16th Par 3 managed to get a 2 which helped. 17th is a tough hole more so on the tee shot as it's tight and you're kind of forced to hit driver cause all the trouble on the right is short but you have OB left and the fairway kicks left. I hit a great drive and a great wedge to about 12 feet. 2 putt for the Par but hit a really good putt. 18th ended up with another 3 putt for a bogey.

Nice job!!
that's awesome UA1!
Congrats UA1, nice trophy!
41-43-84. 2 birdies, 2 double bogeys, 1 triple bogey. 69.8/129/6050.
Played a 2 man best ball event. 10 teams. One hole (I made triple, my partner made an X) took us from a solo 1st to tied for 6th. A 140 yard par 3. FML.
Need to come up with a fix for my gapping issue, it bit me twice today. Going to have to put the 5i back in unless I can find a higher lofted (32-33*?) hybrid that works. The hard part is going to be figuring out what to drop, the rest of the set is fine.

What’s in the bag, and stock yardage?

perhaps attempt using a stiffer left wrist feel quickly exiting palm toward sky
may result in a few extra yards

At the start of the season, 6i was closer to 120, but the 29* hybrid was stock 135, so the gap wasn't much more than 10 yards. Now the hybrid is pushing 150.
The obvious choices seem to be to pull the 19* UW, or possibly to tweak the hybrid lofts and pull one. It would be easy to set the 6h at 27* (it's a 27 I have set to 29 for consistent gapping) and pull the 25*. I also lso have at least one 19* hybrid head lying around and could adjust that up or down up to 2 degrees
If it were last year, I'd probably just pull the 3w since that's been a historically very bad club for me, but it's been preforming pretty well this season.
I know, I know. TL;DR.
44-41-85. 1 birdie, 3 double bogeys, 67.8/126/5573
Inconsistent. Some really good shots, some duffs. Short game is definitely improving.
Intended to play 18 yesterday, but the folks I was paired with all only played 9 and I was +13 at that point so I quit as well and went straight to the range as I couldn't do anything correctly.
Shot 102 on this 6,200 yard par 72 69.0/121 in April.
Sunny and 8os with minimal wind.
84 43/41
6/14 fairways, 10/18 greens.
1 birdie, 7 pars, 8 bogeys, 1 double and 1 triple.
1 chip-in, 1 1-putt, 5 3 putts. 38 putts. 4 3-putt bogeys.
Equals my best round to par (+12) all year. Had it +8 thru 14 and perfectly in the fairway on 15 before hooking an 8-iron approach into the water to make a 3-putt triple. Really terrible shot. Left a 12 foot birdie putt on 18 6 inches short for +11.
Hit some great irons shots and some terrible putts.
Back to the home course tomorrow.
Home course.36/36 72 6200 yards 70.3/124.
Shot 84 here a week ago.
95 47/48
7/14 fairways, 6/18 greens.
4 pars, 8 bogeys, 3 doubles and 3 triples.
3 3-putts. 39 putts.
Terrible round.
Putter was actually not bad, I just didn't make anything. I have 3 putters, and am currently back at the top of the order as I'm back to using my father's old Ping Z-Blade from 1972. Had many 10 inch tap-ins after good efforts from 15+ feet. The 3 3-putts were all 60+ feet away and thus reasonable so I'm not going to beat myself up over them. Judgment of speed was very good.
Hit it terribly, but a few bad shots in particular inflated the score. (Drive on one of the triples found the base of a tree, which resulted in a whiff the first time I tried to hack it out of there.) Very few shots found the center of the club face and stirred the loins as only a perfectly struck a golf shot can. Everything else was clunky and felt gross.
Back at it tomorrow.
Not been in a habit of posting rounds but this one was fun. Hit a rut with ball striking the last week or two, including a bunch of shanks the last couple rounds. Had a pretty bad practice session Sunday trying to find something to snap out of it.
Was playing a round away from my club today, our group elected to tee it forward. 5934 yds, 68.1/125. 35-38-73 (+1) with 5 birdies, 0 shanks. Felt like a system shock to jolt me alive again, gotta tee it forward more often.

Wanted to get the bad taste of that 95 out of my mouth, so back to the scene of the crime to try to redeem myself.
+9 thru 5 was not how I wanted to start, but played the last 13 +2 for my best round to par of the year.
83 44/39
6/14 fairways, 9/18 greens.
2 birdies, 7 pars, 5 bogeys and 4 doubles.
3 1-putts, 3 3-putts. 36 putts.
Made a few putts today, but also hit 2 really bad ones.
Didn't get into any horrible spots today.
Improving.
