What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.
Brag: Shot 80 today on my home course (par 72) - I'm a 12 hand
50 @ the city muni. 4 bogies, 5 doubles.

Upstate NY. Most courses have a seasonal liquor license that ends 10/31. Some will stay open afterward with honor boxes, but no carts, no clubhouse. One course near me will shut down completely and post "No Trespassing" signs even if it's sunny and 80 degrees on Nov. 1st.

Wow. That's crazy. I haven't played through the winter here, but everyone tells me the course is more crowded in the winter, mostly because of snowbirds.
willing and prepared to play in any weather as long as the course is open or i don't get trespassed

Pretty much this. Played Arcadia Bluffs Sunday in 50ish degrees with rain for the front nine and wind 25 with gusts 40. Holes right on the lake prob more like 35 and 50.
Did get amazing weather for the rest of the trip, played the UMichigan course (Alister McKenzie design), Oakhurst Country Club, and all 48 holes at Arcadia.

Beautiful. I really want to get out to Michigan, Wisconsin area and play.
106(52/54) 3 lost balls, 1 in the dreaded creek. Only damn ball I didn't make solid contact the whole round. Grrr.
Wasn't great score wise but I'm making consistent solid contact. Just a little off on everything the whole round. Short chip here, 3 putt there. Mostly double bogeys and no pars. Just little things. I know sub 100 is in my future.
For the first time in a while I played with 2 guys worse than me. One guy mishit his driver and the ball dribbled into the woods, barely. I went to retrieve it and got stung by a wasp. No good deed goes unpunished.
41-46-87. 1 birdie, 4 double bogeys. 68.9/121/5904.
Meh.

esse of course aces not be lacking in subtlty producing prevocitave winning coastal golf images such as above
demonstrating benefits of mental persistance sticking around through fast passing squalls
have not we all once aspired to be sprayed by a fire hose because both or either our belief and reality grip were extra strong and immediately snap left?
Walked the early bird back 9. One disaster hole (10) buggered me. 2 lost balls, 3 pars. 52.
39-41-80. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 67.8/126/5573
Better today. Nothing was great, but I kept it in play and avoided the big numbers.
How did you like The Dozen? Haven't seen all that many reviews of it yet for some reason. Then again I haven't managed to get up there to play the South Course yet either.
I really enjoyed it. They had punched the South and Dozen recently, the South still rolled great, the Dozen was a touch bumpy. But 12 really fun holes, definitely legit holes as well, great addition to a day.
Not as good as Bandon Preserve, but hey, what is?
Haven't played in 3 weeks. Went out to the home course for what will likely be the final golf of the season as the weather looks bad for the next week or so and most courses will likely shut for the winter. And I don't want to play when it's cold anyway.
Got 13 in at +13. No birdies, 4 doubles. Handicap remains at 11.3. Can't complain.

Between some travel and nursing a(hopefully minor?) elbow issue that's been nagging me since late August I hadn't touched my clubs in over a month.
3 birdies, 5 bogeys, one double. I was -2 thru 3 and -1 thru 11 before a sporadic driver finally caught up to me. For not playing in a bit I'll surely take the score but I was hoping for more after how I started. I did make a ton of putts and only missed one short one so that really helped keep the score down. On the other end of that, my threesome had 9 birdies through 13 holes and the Fireball that comes with that certainly didn't help anything.
I keep knocking on the door.
49 on the front nine WITH a 10 on the second hole. 52 on the back with 3 lost balls.
I'm hitting driver pretty well. I had issues with pushing it right but I seemed to have cleaned that up. Occasionally I pull it left and it just so happens the 2 times I did that were the only 2 holes you just can't do that. Grrrr.....
Putting was really good. 3 putted twice but I was really close on most of my longer putts.
I still haven't learned how to get out of sand gracefully. I had a lesson scheduled to help me with this but the guy cancelled so I have to wait a bit. Fortunately it really only cost me 2 strokes today.
I'm crushing my 5 wood now. Irons are meh but I think I figured something out towards the end of the round.
I'm somewhat encouraged that I lost 4 balls and still came close to breaking 100. I ended up with 11 bogeys and 2 pars. Just gotta clean up those errant mishits. I think I can, I think I can, I......
100! (53/47) personal best.
My chipping was absolutely atrocious today and cost me a much better score. Lost 2 balls .
Oddly, I didn't get in a single bunker, and there's a bunch. The downside is I had several balls land just outside of the bunker, forcing ne to hit a short chip over it to a flag that wasn't that far away. I just can't hit those short chips that have to get over an obstacle right in front of me. I'm decent at bump and run but these shots get in my head. I'll be spending a lot of practice time on this.
Shot of the day. I had about a 20 yard chip below the hole. Unfortunately the green runs quickly downhill after the fringe so it's pretty much impossible. To make matters worse, there was a palm tree directly in my desired path. My partner shot first and put his ball about 2 feet to the right of my line. I went ahead and shot, not thinking his ball was in the way. Well... . 1 bounce and I hit his ball and popped right into the hole.
golf swings benefit from constant maintenance much like the hull of a time when a boat starts taking on water
40-37-77. 2 birdies, no double bogeys. Played the forward tees.
45-43-88. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6131.
Lots of bogeys. Some easy, some hard. Wind was up which made it an adventure.
$#&%*!!!!!!
Wasn't doing anything particularly well or particularly bad on the front nine. Got a 50. Started playing a little better in the back.
Needed a 7 on the not hard par 4 18th for a 99. Hadn't lost a ball all day. Not an easy hole to lose one but I pushed it way right and into the woods. Downhill from there. Ended up with a 10 for 102.
So frustrating.

10! bogeys, 1 birdie. Just not a good round. Missed fairways all day leaving me tough approach shots from thick rough, which led to missed greens and tough chips. Even "easy" chip shots were handled poorly leading to way too many missed 10-15' par putts. I also had 3 lost balls...one in the middle of the fairway, one in the rough just a few yards from the fairway, and one just off the green. The one off the green was almost definitely plugged but the other two were head scratchers. As most weekend hackers do, we're not going back to the tee and hitting 3, but taking a drop(and penalty stroke) in the area we all expected to find the ball and continuing on from there. That led to 3 of the 10 bogeys.
Just gotta flush that round and hope for better things this Sunday!
