2 month vegas trip from uk, getting $ back?

Hi, I'm planning a 2 month trip to Vegas in the summer to play cash games. I've been playing for a long time professionally but mostly online, I am now trying to transition to live.

Fingers crossed I will have a successful time and if so I'm wondering how easy it is to move money back from us to the UK.

It will hopefully be more than 10k so would have to declare my winning at the airport. Is this a difficult task or fairly simple? If I played at the same casino for most of my trip would they wire the money back to my uk account at the end of my trip?

Slightly unrelated but where would people recommend to play?

Thanks in advance guys.

It is very simple. You either trade $ with people from the UK for various online methods or you fill out a declaration form and can bring any amount over from the US.

Third option that I do sometimes if I have a future trip planned is to either leave cash in vegas or buy chips and take everything above $9000 in chips.

As to where to play - you will have to be a bit more specific. What games do you play and what stakes?

Hey thanks for the response. Yeah will prob try and trade with people who need the $ for bank transfer.

Or perhaps just declare the winnings at the airport, just wasn't sure how difficult this was but I guess pretty easy.

I will be playing 2/5 nl mostly but i am rolled to play 5/10 if the games are good.

Firstly, good luck! Check lots of trip reports for pointers and useful tips for your stay.

As for getting cash back into £.

Depending on when your leaving... you can sell to many UK regs for the main and other big events, cash for bank xfer or cash for cash at spot rate. Check the UK poker room Facebook page.

Or, worst case bring it back in cash and declare it at the airport, then sell it either to again travelling poker players or back to some of the money shops online at a close to spot rate.

Plenty of UK players always travelling to the states for trips and events so $ at spot rate are always in demand.

You just have to head to the airport 5 minutes early and fill out one form and then show it to TSA that’s it. Very very easy.

As for stakes, Aria - Bellagio and Wynn in no particular order. They have the best 2/5 and 5/10 games, with varying table max. Bellagio usually plays much smaller while Wynn and Aria is deep stack.

Thanks, it's just dawned on me that the issue isn't getting the money back to the UK.... its getting a good exchange rate when converting back to uk £. Will have to start networking and find some people. Thanks.

Bellagio have also added a hybrid game of $5/$5 with $400-$1000 buy-in, if I remember correctly. Their $2/$5 is still $500 max.

The $5/$10 have also been raised to $2500 max, which means it plays quite a bit bigger than before (previously $1500 max).

You can ask a CBP officer for the form. No big deal but personally I hate to fill out forms like that on the run. So that step always felt annoying and inconvenient to me.

Not sure when they started doing that but these days you can also fill out the form online. It's called Fincen form 105.
