Venetian poker room changeup
Per a poker news article that just dropped, it sounds like a 50 table room with modern electronic equipped tables will be opening this summer on level 2. Will also have a dedicated room for streaming and vlogging.
Glad to see a casino expanding and upgrading their poker room in Vegas, especially after the Venetian has kept shrinking theirs every few years.
Article here:
I will never stop mourning their prior proximity to the front door.
I’m late to the party, but just came back from a week in Vegas and the new Venetian poker room is amazing.
After you get used to the location, this room seems to now be the #1 poker room in Vegas, with many lower priced, fantastically structured tournaments in the schedule. Props to the free soda and coffee. The Wynn is no longer #1..
I'll check out Venetian in a couple weeks
With CES in town it has been busy and there should be plenty of great games.
yeah, def. nope.
don't know who wrote that glaring recommendation on the Venetian room, but it's either someone who works there or somewhat let's say not well informed
I don’t know if I would call it the #1 room but I would not be surprised if a lot of players agree that it is. It’s a popular room now, and clearly busier than it has been in years.
I didn’t give a **** about the room in the old location for about the past 8 years and would almost always skip it and go to the Wynn, but this new room greatly exceeded my expectations.
I can not conceive of an instance where I would desire to play the mock Venetian poker room.
Why?
But you haven’t played there. Why the negativity? It seems like you have a grudge against the room but you don’t offer any thoughtful responses. I’m sure you have your reasons and could elaborate on why you dislike the room, just curious why.
My lungs appreciate the new space a lot. The casino is still a bit of a chimney with a fair amount of people smoking. Not an issue upstairs.
From a pure vibes standpoint I preferred the old room, but to me the new space is an overall upgrade.

I played in the old room briefly on about 5 trips (various times of year) and it was always busy
ok, my 2 cents:
the old room was really nice back in the day when they still had that saloon area behind the cage (2 tables) ... staff was good, poker was appreciated, all around good atmosphere.
then something changed (don't know what), that feeling of appreciation went away, and from that point on it went downwards, saloon got closed, room got cut in half again later, staff changed, etc.
with the new room i get that same feeling, yes, all is knew, but i doesn't feel like anybody gives a **** about poker ... service is really bad, food service basically not existent, and most of the staff didn't seem very experienced.
yes, everything is new, i'll give you that, but that's about it, and this will also wear off.
location: why would you put a poker room in a mall, again, fells like "let's just put it somewhere, nobody cares". and if you talk about getting randoms to play poker, you'll probably find them closer to a blackjack table or a slot machine, then doing shopping in a mall.
and finally, to compare it to a top room like wynn or aria is just laughable.

OK, that’s one person who simply cannot stand the new room. Sounds like lots and lots of others like it and are playing here regularly.
I’m bummed it won’t be until late June, but I plan to put in a couple of sessions and look forward to posting my impressions, along with some photos.
This probably won't be a popular take but I don't like the PLO bomb pots in hold 'em. Sure you can gut the recs faster in a different game ever dealer change that they probably don't know how to play, but I think it's bad for the poker economy long term. Hold 'em bomb pots at least are the same game and the recs are also play those badly (but admittedly better than the PLO bomb pots).
I'm sure since it's Vegas that there are enough visiting recs to keep feeding the room but I don't personally like it.

while i like DB plo bomb pots I think they're something that's popular now but won't be in a few years. Like you said bad players just get wrecked too fast and I think they'll get sick of it.

When I was there last fall nobody ever wanted to play them (including me) and no table I was ever at ran one of them which was fine with me. If they would have I would decline to play.

Every time I’ve played NL at the new room almost every table is all about the bomb pots. The ones that aren’t are usually the tables you don’t want to be at anyway. Nobody is forced to play them. Yesterday we had one guy who didn’t want to play them, finally decided to play one after a couple hours, scooped a big pot. Another life ruined!
Disagree. The old room was convenient to the parking garage AND the Strip sidewalk traffic.
Which garage, the one next to the sports book?
The new room is literally right above a garage, not to mention much closer distance to the bathroom and self serve drinking station.
Though the room is meh, wouldn’t play there. Any room with too many locals is a crap room.
