Venetian poker room changeup
Per a poker news article that just dropped, it sounds like a 50 table room with modern electronic equipped tables will be opening this summer on level 2. Will also have a dedicated room for streaming and vlogging.
Glad to see a casino expanding and upgrading their poker room in Vegas, especially after the Venetian has kept shrinking theirs every few years.
Article here:
I wonder how real the concept of the "gee that looks fun, I'll try it" walk up players really is. I guess I can see that happening at certain rooms like Aria or MGM where the poker space is conspicuously located next to major pedestrian walkways. With the way things are presently set up at Venetian though, I actually think the poker room feels very contained and cloistered despite ostensibly being in a good location. There are walls on all sides, so you're effectively hidden from passersby. Ther
It's huge. You can tell in places like Ballys and PHo, where they moved the rooms around.
This is part of the fun! 😀 I love to see the annoyed looks from the promo chasing nits who just wants to limp in every hand. Although in my (limited) experience of the room, I think the games were more limp-happy like 5 years ago compared to how it has been on my more recent trips.
In general it's great to see a casino trying to actually expand and commit to poker, but I too have my concerns about the move to second floor. It's never a good thing when casual players have to go chase for the poke
I wasn't aware there was ANY gaming on the second floor. Just shops and food court and canal rides.
So where *exactly* is this new room, if you go up to 2nd floor using the escalators next to existing room.
Is it next to Tao or further into the retail/canal area?
What does the culinary union think about having self-service drinks?
the Venetian has had self-serve coffee and soda for years
I may come out of retirement and start a new business; I can buy a small bus and shuttle poker players to South Point, Orleans and Red Rock from Venetian. I might be flush with just gratuities.

This move sounds like the V's Poker department LOST a turf war with someone like Slots
for the prime real estate where the poker room sat.
cc: Mandalay Bay Poker vacating a prime location adjacent to high traffic flow. sportsbook, snack bar to a random spot behind House of Blues.
This Venetian move is cut by the same cloth.
The SINGLE exception has been South Point, where poker has a good environment and is valued.

I'd say they're still valuing it somewhat being it looks to be a big room and very nice.
Who cares? Poker rooms don’t make the casino money anyways
Man Stung in testicles by scorpion at Ve...
better watch out if you're staying at the Venetian
100% the scorpion crawled into this guy's luggage before he left whatever California craphole he came from
0% the scorpion just materialized in a room at the Venetian.
I've lived in Vegas since forever and have never seen a scorpion. So I would be inclined to believe Cali guy is full of s**t in all of this. But, he has retained a local LV lawyer to represent his claim. My opinion:

I have stayed in many different Vegas abodes, including many long term off strip properties. I have also seen lots of scorpions. They are numerous in the desert, especially if you know how to look for them.
Scorpions live in lots of places in Vegas. That said, it is unlikely to find them in a strip hotel if they are in a strip hotel they were likely carried from some place else.
All the Vegas pest control services specifically list scorpions. Would be pretty weird if there weren't any?
Scorpions are a solitary creature, they dont live in hives so if you see one, there is a chance that's the only one.
That being said, if you see one, that means there are more.
here is my killing jar... I haven't had to add to it since 2020, but that doesn't mean there aren't any more.
Never seen a scorpion in the 30 years I've lived here but I've also never had a palm tree on my property. I think that's generally where they are found.

Yeah no doubt. In Venetian I’m there maybe 10-15 total days a year but you inevitably always see a player or two on a 3-4 day trip who just wandered their way into the room because of where it is. Problem is they’re usually nitty and clueless so more often than not they slow the game down more than anything. I don’t think moving the game upstairs will hurt a ton. You won’t get those players as much but they contribute so little anyhow
