Argghh, I do the same thing every year
I fail to make room reservations early and get squeezed. I swear to do it early every year, but I don't. At least this year I made reservations for a week at Paris for about $500, not bad. But then after all the TR's start I took a new look at my reservations, and they're for the wrong week. About all I got was the first days of the Colossus. Early on I was going to go discount and only play cheapo tournaments at WSOP and Orleans. Then I decided what the heck, and play the Monster. I cab get a couple night at reasonable rates, but mid-week I'm looking at $900 for 3 days. Yikes.
My advice, which I seem unable to follow, is BOOK EARLY!

I can get an economical room at Rio or Orleans, it's all the schlepping I don't like. My back is jacked up and it's hard enough to get from my room in Paris to the WSOP.
Can't handle the smell of sardines and cheap sausage.
