POGs 2025 WSOP Trip!

POGs 2025 WSOP Trip!

The other blogs have been a good read so thought why not do my own 😃

I've booked it all earlier today, 17 nights at the Horseshoe from 23rd June - 10th July, part of me wishes I could just fall asleep and hibernate then wake up the day before (well after Christmas first I suppose :p)

If this year's schedule is the same as last years then I would plan to play in most of these events:

$600 Deepstack
$500 Salute to Warriors
$400 Colossus
$1,000 Mini Main
$800 Independence Day Celebration NLH

and then either Day 1C or Day 1D of the main, and use my days off that week to do sightseeing stuff (any suggestions?)

I've booked flights home for the 10th which is Day 5 but if I make it that far then i'll be in the money and can afford a first class trip home once I eventually bust (or win, you never know got to have confidence!)

A question I have:

I'm unable to register for Caesars' Rewards online as they aren't taking online applications for UK persons, they e-mailed me and said I can only do it in person. I really don't wish to take $10,000 in cash with me for the buy-in so they said they can do a wire transfer but how does that work exactly? All my savings are in my mum's bank account for safekeeping, can I just transfer it from there or will it have to be a bank account under my own name? And once the money has been transferred, can I withdraw it and use it for anything or is it only able to be used for tournament buy-ins?

If there's an easier way for UK people to buy in for the Main Event then let me know please 😀

Also I should probably ask if doing a wire transfer to the casino is safe, I assume so but I wouldn't want to send 10 grand only to never see it again lol

I can't answer any of the intricate registration questions.

I like the schedule. Those are some of the better value low stakes tournaments at the WSOP. I've played the Colossus and Deepstack Championship several times. I played the Salute for the first time last year and enjoyed the setup. Deep starting stack, slow levels, and softish field. I'm not really a fan of the Mini Main and might look into what the Wynn is running that day, but otherwise I love those options if you are trying to get a good taste of the WSOP experience on a reasonable budget. And of course the Main should be a very memorable experience.

In terms of sightseeing, I'm probably not great at trying to predict what other people will enjoy. I liked the Mob Museum and would generally recommend it. Bellagio conservatory and gaming floor are always worth a stroll IMO. It's right across the street from the WSOP, so that's an easy one. If you like retro video games and pinball, the Pinball Hall of Fame on LV Blvd towards the airport is a cheap way to spend a couple hours. If you are into sports and/or live entertainment, you can see what's happening as we get closer. Your timeline may coincide with NBA Summer League.

Have they announce anything about the 2025 schedule? My brain thinks that's months away, my WSOP piggy bank is awfully low.

Thanks 😀 yeah the schedule last year looked good, i'm hoping it's more of the same next year.

Mob Museum and Pinball Hall of Fame sounds right up my street 😃 I like my sports but only American sport I like is American Football and unfortunately the NFL season will be over by then, I definitely want to go to a home Bills game at some point (I went to their London game last year, was amazing)

They've announced it's running from May 27th until July 16th with the Main Event from 2nd-16th July. I assume the full schedule will come out in a couple months time.

Last year's (well, technically still this year's) schedule was released 16th February, let's see if it comes out around the same time next year.

I am also considering a similar time period as you, simply because there are a lot of good lower WSOP events around that time, based on last year's schedule. PokerNews Deepstack, Salute to Warriors, and Colossus are all well within my budget.

Can confirm the Deepstack Championship and Colossus are fantastic tournaments.

I made Day 2 in both of those events last year. From a buy-in level, to potential score, to slow structure, I think they’re the best tournaments on the worldwide poker calendar all year.

If I were you, I’d also look at the $1,500 Monster Stack tournament. It’s another weekend event, and the structure is as close as you can get to the Main, for 15% of the price, with over a milly up top.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful about transfers from Euro land.

I travel with just under 10k for my trip, and if I ever need more, there’s plenty of Wells Fargo branches in Vegas for me.

generally they'll do a New Year post with dates for the biggest events - Main, Senior's, Milly, Monster, Ladies events. And then yeah, the full schedule a month or so later.

now that I'm officially old, I've booked a guestimated 10 day stay at a property at around when I think the Senior's event will be, because there are a ton of other senior's tournies around the same time. But I need to be able to cancel/rebook once the schedule comes out.

Yeah i've heard good things about those tournaments, i'm praying they'll keep them around the same time they did this year. The Monster Stack was too early before the Main this year but i'll keep an eye out when it is next year 😀

How old do you have to be for Seniors? My dad is tagging along, he's not the biggest poker player but i'm sure he'll play a couple of small buy-in events for fun. (He'll be 58)

50 and over for the Senior; 60 and over for the Super Senior. Both are $1K buy-ins.

Thanks!

Those are the bracelet events. There will also be a Daily Deepstack, and events at the other casinos that run series.

WSOP likes to have a budget NLHE event to dominate each weekend slot. Guesstimate for this year based on recent years:

1st Weekend (5/30-5/31) - $1k Mystery Millions
2nd Weekend (6/06-6/07) - Low budget mega field NLHE ala Gladiators, Housewarming, Big 50
3rd Weekend (6/13-6/14) - $1.5k Monster Stack
4th Weekend (6/20-6/21) - $1.5k Milly Maker
5th Weekend (6/27-6/28) - $400 Colossus

6th Weekend would be dominated by the Main Event flights 1C and 1D.

Mini Main is usually sandwiched between the Colossus and the $10k Main. Without belaboring the point too much, I don't recommend it in general or as preparation for the $10k Main. It has the exact same blind structure as the $10k Main, except the levels are 30 minutes instead of 2 hours. The result of that is actually a very fast-paced tournament where most people will be feeling pressure by the dinner break on the first day. It's a good event to play if you just want a quick chance at a huge score, but I'd argue that it's actually bad preparation for the Main Event despite its name because the pace is so different. The Main Event has 2 hour levels and is known to be the slowest/deepest NLHE tournament on the calendar each year. With that in mind, I think you'll get better practice for the $10k Main by skipping the Mini Main for something slower, perhaps a multi-day at Wynn or Venetian. Wynn multi-day summer tournaments are a great option in general.

I'd argue that the Monster Stack and Milly Maker are closer to being the "Mini Main" in spirit than the actual Mini Main, since both are deep/slow tournaments with huge fields and big prizes at the end. The Mini Main only gets the name because it has the same level structure as the $10k Main. In terms of pacing it's more like a one day tournament where you will be in the money by roughly 9 or 10PM on the first day.

I'm in for the eventual TRs.

Let me put a little detail on the Seniors, if you qualify: it's a fairly soft tournament, with a much more collegial feel than the opens. No hoodies, sunglasses, and iPad to be found.

Just a bunch of old folks having a good time playing cards, and getting to know some new people a little bit. I've never seen someone berate another player for their play, nor gloat when they win a big hand. Everyone's seen every kind of beat there is, and take it in stride.

The seniors will be for my dad who's tagging along, I might feel like an old man most of the time but i'm still only 30 :p

Plus, you will likely play with big name pros. I've had Grag Raymer, Joe Cada, and the 2023 Monster Stack bracelet winner at my tables.

You'll probably encounter bracelet winners at the smaller events too, they just won't be famous. My Big Fitty Day 2 table had 3 Circuit event ring winners and a bracelet winner. Luckily for me that table broke quickly.

Gotta watch out for those Super Seniors, some of them have X-Ray vision and can see what your holecards are.

Posting to subscribe in epic bread. GL OP!

Thanks!

Played the Deepstack, Salute to Warriors and Colossus myself last year. Great Tournaments with good value. I would like to see the Mini-Main with longer levels (40-60 minutes). A mini-Main with two-hour levels would be amazing!! I wonder how many entries the Mini-Main would get with two-hour levels?

OP, I got this in email:

Refer a friend to sign up and activate a new Caesars Rewards® account, and you’ll each receive a 500 Tier Credit Bonus.

So find someone, anyone, to refer you and you get 500 tc.

I can't sign up to Caesars Rewards online as i'm in the UK can only do it in person once i'm in Vegas

Have you tried a US-based vpn? Just be sure to use an address which is similar to the vpn location.
