This is thread FOR the people BY the people!

Some more Mother Wolf greatness:

Rigatoni alla Gricia 11/10 this dish is incredible

haven't had that version, but one of my favorite pasta dishes, topped only by adding egg yolk and making a carbonara
either version shouldn't skimp on the guanciale fat or cracked pepper

The carbonara was great too but I thought this dish was the best I’ve had there and one of the better dishes I’ve had anywhere in recent memory. The guanciale is epic. I should ask for extra next time.

Even if you aren’t a cook at home, making a simple cacio e Pepe or carbonara to your taste is really easy and satisfying. I’m with redeye, extra pepper, extra guanciale (or just bacon), I add some garlic with egg yolks is just the best.

I got reservations at Kyu (@FB) next weekend, anybody been there?

I don't see any excuse for a gourmet/upscale burger to have raw or even grilled onions instead of caramelized onions.

Eh I don’t think onions belong on a burger at all, wife on other hand loves the raw onion on the Lugar burger

It's why the onions are on the bottom. I cook smashed burger the same way.

But I agree that it doesn't look appetizing. It looks like a fake burger in a commercial. It's still good.

Raw Onion is better is the reason

Raw Onion is better is the reason

Tried Early Birds for brunch. Had the steak sandwich (good) chicken and waffles (better) churro pancakes (very good). Expect a wait even on a Monday morning , though we got up at the bar right away.

Raw Onion is better is the reason

You need to act like a real red blooded Persian and toss that raw onion, wholly intact, on the grill.

Usually hate raw onions but it definitely enhances the Luger burger without a doubt. Recommend trying it even if you hate em.

Mother wolf Friday. Any must orders besides the rigatoni and pizza above?

ate at La La Noodle in Park MGM and was very satisfied. I thought my server and the whole staff were excellent. the service really was impeccable.
this is kinda silly to most people but when our server first talked to us and offered glasses of water, seeing my Asian wife she asked if we would prefer ice or no ice. that is definitely something particular to Asians. my wife doesn't drink ice water and we all adopted that preference too. I was impressed by her cultural awareness for that little touch (the offer).
the place has a real nice atmosphere, some good tunes playing, the restaurant was not loud and felt happy.
we had a 5:00 rez and after we sat and ordered, our food was on the table at 5:15. originally I was worried that we would be rushed to get out and to our show but we actually got done way earlier than expected.

I ordered pad Thai. I was really impressed with the presentation, it was beautiful. had some large and tasty shrimp along with chicken. overall was a little atypical with noodles that weren't as wide as I expected, there wasn't much peanuts and the sauce was very sweet with no heat. but it was some of the best pad Thai I've had.

picky son ordered beef brisket noodle soup and really liked it, which was a pleasant surprise.

pork fried rice was a mountain of food. second son said his mom's fried rice is better. I thought it was fine.

daughter ordered potstickers. it was reported they were good, but only four pieces for like $18 felt skimpy.

overall very happy with the experience.

looking back at the picture there was obviously a bunch of peanuts. but no prevalent peanut sauce.

I think water with no ice is sort of normal everywhere outside the US and not just Asia. Europeans are the same.

I think Peter Luger was the only meal last week where we were served ice water and I don't think we were asked anywhere.

Those noddles actually look a little wider than most pad Thai noodles. Maybe not in USA#1 but certainly elsewhere that I’ve eaten a lot of Thai? I prefer the fatter noodles in pad see ew for this reason

Food does look nicely presented though

Oh yes in Vegas due to water restrictions they now only bring you tap/ice water if you specifically ask for it. I would say in general if you order tap water or a soft drink it’ll come with ice. The US is the only place I know that does this.

this was the only time I can ever remember a server asking if I wanted our water with ice or not. I usually have to request it.
(only if I'm with my family, I usually don't care if I'm dining alone)

Freaking number one again! Now if only we can figure out soccer.

We’ve figured out soccer is trash, so we’ve won that as well.

Not quite Vegas casual but I went to Dallas this week and had this prime 26oz Porterhouse for $80 at a high end steakhouse (Pappas Bros). Same steak in Vegas $180-250. Wild price discrepancy. It was a 10/10.
