Oh here's a fun nugget as I was watching an old Council Bluffs income video.

Diesel averages $3.98/hr during the WSOP in Vegas and that's why he leaves town immediately when WSOP rolls into town. This is over 341 hours and he's won $1,360 over that time.

That is brutal.

I guess that, as in boxing, styles make fights in poker. Given many years of experience in cash games during the WSOP, I would expect a very different "WSOP effect" to be discernable.

Cash games get flooded with players who REALLY look for action during their visit to LAS VEGAS, writ large. Cash games seemingly get looser during the WSOP.

(My admittedly casual observations also are skewed somewhat as I play only lower level NLHE or Omaha.)

i don't get absolute nuts at all

is it a group, is it a person, is it the person who usually holds the camera/showing cards or the guy who is usually on camera

why is the guy's gf in every thumbnail?

like is it a group of people who just want to vlog their private games or an individual who runs a private game and thought it would be fun to pay one of the guys to be a camera man and edit it?

idk what's going on, but I definitely want an invite to those games, they look fun

I am not exactly sure about everything but here's what I have figured out... I found that they have a live stream of the game and it's been going several times a week for over a year. and it's called the Absolute Nuts game. Jonathan holds the camera. David has been doing a vlog of the games but not until recently (just a few episodes). he seems to call himself AbsoluteNuts but I think that's more the title of the regular game. they have the same core of players along with guests. the girl Megan is a regular and she seems to whup them every game. probably gets the thumbnail because of her regular seat in relation to the camera. they have been playing at both Tropicana and Resorts World. I'm not familiar with any other live games from Vegas that get streamed or recorded (outside of the PokerGo studio) so that's pretty cool.

5/5 game where most pots end up $1000+?
I watched their stream for a bit last night. they follow along with the comments in YouTube. the guy with the camera shows his cards every hand so it seems like it would be pretty easy for the others to know what he has from the comments. but from the vlogs he seems to be pretty successful most nights.

I must agree that the fact that Diesel is not a losing poker player puts him in a higher tier than the cast majority of poker players.

however, that doesn't make him a better player. The vast majority of poker players have other significant streams of income and play as a hobby where variance (+/-) is okay. playing full time for +/- $8/h (including comps) is a waste of time.

Over qualified to be NFL head coach since he never played the game.

He doesn't want to be head coach. He wants to be the offensive coordinator for the NFL or a D1 college program.

But, as usual, the powers that be overlook the best possible candidate, Rice, and select inferiors merely because they have actual experience, totally ignoring the vast game theory knowledge Rice could bring to the game.

Can't make this stuff up.

Diesel is Jonah hill in Moneyball. Any team in any sport would crush with his GTO mind at work.

by Langdon k

feels like we are recycling the same lines about Diesel constantly.

I think we are all in agreement. is the constant repetition necessary

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

RIP Tropicana.

re: absolute nuts

yeah but like are they advertising to grow their game and attract players, trying to get youtube monies, become poker famous?

i just don't understand what they are doing or why or who is even behind it

but those games look good

Well I asked the question...

2022 video he talks about his dividend income.

by Langdon k

please explain "for a living"
seems like he is dying quickly and miserably

By "making a living", that is what he does from day to day to provide the majority of his capital & substance.

Now for most people on this board, it would not be an acceptable amount. We are talking about RICE though, he has to work with what he has.

Do you seriously think that RICE could keep a long term 9-5 job? Could he pass a bar exam? Can he pass character & fitness? Has he been filing tax returns from being a pro poker player all these years? I took a look at BarBri rates, and the MINIMUM amount is like $2k. If you want in person instruction at a cram class, it is like $4k!

Could he even get hired to do anything other than unloading trucks or working the fryolator? RICE has been out of the labor pool for a number of years now, what type of professional organization is going to think that years of grinding 1/2 poker is good experience? RICE is also in a difficult spot because of his YouTubes! What would a potential employer think of if they saw those?

RICE has chosen his path in life, now he HAS to make it work. He has been able to do it so far, albeit at a minimal level.

Unfortunately, while RICE is able to make it now...I don't know if that will the case in the future. You can only cut costs so much. RICE has got to be near the limit of those cuts.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion, that here in Detroit, 1/2 is rapidly becoming unprofitable. It does not matter WHAT your skill & tightness level is, how do you consistently beat a short stacked 1/2 game with $6+$2 rake? Sure, you can get lucky now & again...but you can't depend on luck long term.

If only Diesel had the time and intelligence to study the game, he could actually make some money.

by parisron k

That comment sums it up.

By his own admission he gave the results for all the years when it suited him. But now when last year and this year he has been getting his ass handed to him all of a sudden he says results are not the the focus of his channel.

I think anyone ITT estimating his poker earnings last year has been overly generous. His expenses would be 12k for the year (at least 6 weeks he lived for free with his parents.)

His poker earnings last year would have been roughly 6k. If his poker earnings covered more than half of his expenses then you can bet Rice would have said that poker covered "most" of his expenses. And yes that's including comps/promos which is probably the only thing which saved him from a losing year.

6k earned over 1500 hours is $4 per hour. But it's actually at least 2000+ hours because he doesn't count time away from the table or time spent changing tables/rooms.

I just got blocked after engaging him in the comments. I thought he liked debating stuff? I guess not when it comes to his poker life being more of a hobby than a money making job.

I think you are having a very bad read, and dont know people very well if you honestly think Diesel comes off as genuinely happy with his life.

My impression is that he is just doing everything he can to make it seem that way, its this massive way of coping with his life being where it is. This is pretty common FWIW from people that is underperforming vastly in life, or is a loser and is unhappy/frustrated with where they are in life. The reality is too painful to deal with, so they do everything

I'm replying to you instead of the troll you quoted. All he is looking for with his absurd assertions is to get a reaction out of people. I hate giving trolls like him any air time.

If Diesel appears happy it's only by virtue of his extreme denial and delusion about the reality of his situation.

Diesel doesn't look any less autistic to me than TBC. He's just a younger version. In 25 years let's see what Diesel is looking like. Let's just say his lifestyle is not conducive to aging well. If Diesel is still doing what he is doing now by the time he is in his mid to late 50s I'll be shocked if he looks any better than TBC.

What a joke to say that Rice must be a good dude just because H&R is his friend. Even low lifes and scumbags have friends. Tight asses and selfish people have friends too. They don't usually have a lot of friends vying for their time but they will still have one or two friends at least.

H&R seems like the type who doesn't care that Rice is constantly freerolling him. He probably makes in a good week what Rice makes in a year and he also seems like a generous guy. Probably doesn't have a lot of other friends either as he seems quite introverted. But I certainly wouldn't take his putting up with Diesel as a ringing endorsement. They also hang out only a few times a year. It's a good thing because I'd say if it was any more than that it wouldn't be so easy for H&R to put up with.

This. Dude is ****ing miserable and will never say it out loud. He is posing for the camera just like his idol used to pose about being some kind of tough guy.

There are millions of folks with autism/on the spectrum that do 100x what that guy does. He’s a grown ass man and can make big boy decisions for himself and the result is a shitty YouTube channel that he’s turning into his own personal echo chamber.

Just. Like. His. Idol.

His real life goal is to be Hamster 2.0. We’ve already seen how that story goes.

the vlogs only get like 30 comments and the lives only had like 100-400 viewers at a time which for regular over a year seems like they are not putting much effort into growing

Diesel has no shot at a poker dealer. It's one thing when you have a dealer that is a stickler for the rules. It's another when Diesel is gonna run his games how he thinks it should run and not what is standard according to Robert's Rules of Poker.

Here's an example from today's vlog. Someone bets $10, someone tosses in three red chips, at Diesel's table that's a raise to $20, period, end of story. Grab one too many cause the chips are worn or sticky? Too bad! It's a raise to $20, sir.

At

Rice would be "willing" to be Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator for an NFL or D1 college team. The hubris on this guy is out of this world. He wouldn't be considered to be the assistant to the waterboy, however he's talking like he would be in the position to turn down a coaching gig!

The first thing he has ever said that I agree with is that if a player throws in multiple chips and it covers at least 150% of the initial bet/raise then it should be treated as a raise/re-raise. I actually agree with him that there should be no grey area on that one. That's obviously only for a public game in a casino. Private/Home games can make their own rules that everyone is comfortable with.

Diesel talking as if he is in a position to actually turn down an NFL head coaching job is the absolute ultimate in grandiose delusion. We are talking about a 1000x on his current poker earnings. His level of delusion is approaching warp speed at an alarming rate.

"But when HCs do something I thought of 5 years earlier, it seems like they need me."

~~RICE - 03/31/2024

Does Andy Reid know about this guy?

Currently the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and the Seattle Seahawks have offensive coordinator openings.

Will these teams pick inferior candidates and once again pass over RICE the best candidate for the job?

It's 99 percent a mistake when this happens. The supervisor has the right to do what's in the best interest of the game. The dealer should snap clarify the action provided nobody has acted on it.

Of course an insufferable nit bag like Rice would have the rule book out and likely be the only one at the table who cares about this being enforced.

by parisron k

The old men at The Orleans aren't going to put up with El Diesel's ****. They will start yelling at him and he will lose it and have nowhere to run to, as he will be stuck at the table.

Also, he basically said he will dish it out to them if they are giving him ****. So that would be fun also.

"A lot of people in the world hate me". The players are customers. Piss too many of them off and he won't be dealing for long.
