In my experience the players that obsess about only playing full ring are always invariably nitty regs and promo grinders. Basically those that just want to peddle the nuts and would **** their pants if they have to actually play any real poker.

Recreational/social players don't usually care too much one way or another as long as the game doesn't break. Loose types just looking to gamble always prefer short handed and ditto for legit crushers.

Speaks to the stakes ride Polaris plays, don’t think what he said is true for 5-10 or higher but prob is for retirees that play 1-2 like ride Polaris. As always his opinion is half baked and of the thought that how goes the 1-2 games at the horseshoe with retired teachers, Uber drivers and homeless/live at home wanna bes, goes the poker world at large

I guess anyone who identifies with Rice or even looks up to him (perish the thought) will be very concerned with only playing 9 handed. They are the ones who go into melt down if someone gets up from the table for more than a minute or two because their survival as a "poker pro" is hanging on by the thinnest of threads.

Hopefully when he gets his first check it will motivate him, if he is still working by then. Hopefully he is.

Agree 100%. I hope he enjoys it and sticks with it. It's not a bad gig at all for someone spectrum-ish. Very systematic and procedure oriented. Dealing is the first job I ever actually liked, although not poker. Hopefully he can parlay this into a gig dealing cash or if he chooses he can learn table games.

Idk but it's industry standard. We all show up to auditions in black and white but almost no casino has black and white as the uniform

Tbh dealing is a little overwhelming when you're brand new to it. A lot of players think they could hop in the box and do it no problem but it's not so easy once you're there. It does eventually become extremely easy but those first few months can be rough.

Ive practiced law for 30 years, own a home, a condo and a small office building, have all the money I need - I have no problems playing a 240 rebuy at the Wynn or Aria. Sometimes you just feel like playing a tournament and the fields in those buy-ins are so soft that its a nice break from a 3500 Wynn pko or something.

If they saw the shirts they'd have to wear they might not take the job.

Dealing is a smart move for him tbh. Steady income can help him play more poker if he wants to.

Either way, getting regular paychecks will alleviate stress.

If I were ever going to try the poker pro thing, I would work 2-3 days per week at the start so that my whole life didn't hinge on flops, turns, and rivers.

All you guys do is make personal attacks and inject personal opinions and whataboutisms. "Well in 5-10 and above, they prefer short-handed games blah blah blah." That's not what I said. I said if you surveyed the entire poker pool of players, the MAJORITY, over 50%, would say they prefer full ring games rather than short-handed, 6 players or less. That's an easy concept to understand, majority. Wherein did I say at the 5-10 level and above? I know without any doubt I'm right.

Idk man it just doesn't mean anything when economically games have to be 9max for the vast majority of players in a cardroom. Even if people have a preference, its mostly b/c its what they know, or because of what it represents (a game thats close to breaking), not because its a strong preference based on how it plays.
