Background:

Dallas born and raised
Dozen Vegas trips in the books, only a few specific to poker.
Played a ton of online tournaments back in the heyday. Mostly micro stake donkaments.
Numerous live events, mostly wsopC at Choctaw and local Dallas card rooms.
Played a few side events at PCA 2018
Not much of a cash grinder.
My first trip to Vegas was 2006ish. Went specifically to play poker. Split a room at the MgM with a buddy.
First ever live tournament was a $300 daily at Caesar’s.
Final tabled, finished 7th for about $8-900 ish. Was an absolute rush.
I stopped playing poker altogether 5 years ago. Lost my patience, drinking too much, and the game had passed me by.
Got sober February 1st 2024.
Decided to jump back into tournaments to occupy my free time and see if I still “had it”.
First tournament was a laughable $75 bounty at an indian casino outside Tulsa.
Took 1st with 7 bounties. About a $750 profit.
Went 0/12 across my next $100-300 entries at the local Dallas card rooms. Couldn’t hold an 80% all in pre to save my life.
Starting to give up hope.
Finally make a final table again and take 5th. Massive mental boost. Only note worthy mention, I was down to 1 bet on the SB with 15 left on the stone bubble. Wild
Run from 30k to 1 million chips.
I chip up regularly. Registration comes to an end and I have avg stack, or sometimes if running well, double avg. It’s at this point I struggle to keep leveling up. I’ll find a spot to get it in for heaps and be favored, but holding has been incredibly difficult. Play badly here and there. That’s poker.
Last couple years I made a few Vegas trips. All I did was drink incessantly, and gamble away piles on slots and BJ. Seems I now have a host at the Sahara. Can’t really remember what I did or sums lost
105 days sober now.
Cashing in on my previous degeneracy on this trip.
Schedule:
Fly in Friday night.
6/7-6/12
5 nights Alexandria ultra suite comped with Airport pickup
$900 free play
$200 food credit
$500 cabana comp
Gladiator Saturday 10am
Fremont Saturday night
Gambling at the el Cortez & Plaza
Azilo Cabana Sunday
Depending on the how quickly the gladiators dispose of me, I’ll have several days for various other small events.
On the agenda:
Bazaar Meats
Peppermill Diner
Circus circus for coin machines and childlike fun, bc it’s a tradition. RIP Nannie Miller.
Rides at The Strat
The Linq Highroller
Twisted Pizza LV off the strip
Various casino hoping
Flamingos
Conservatory
Fountains
Rather eat greasy diner food than go to fancy restaurants. I cook a lot, so paying crazy sums for a steak is not something Im in to. But I’ll hit up a sushi joint for sure. Another great perk of having a host at the Sahara is access to Bazaar Meat.
Bankroll:
$5k cash
$900 FP
$900 WSOP #20-C: 3 bullets @ $300
$1000 BJ
$1000 Slots
$1000 VP
$1000 Poker (cash & dailys)
**credit to rppoker for unknowingly allowing me to rip off a few phrases
Yea that was a crazy bad 4 bet there. Jeebus.
Let’s not forget to mention how atrocious the all in call was in level 1
Just dusting off a little Sahara money right quick. Nothing to see here.
At least they put me in Paris this time and I don’t have to show my face back in Horseshoe.
Paris Black
42/3
On the losing end of a set over set
33<66
36A flop 2 H
3 players to the river.
Board runs out hearts and we lose the minimum. Woulda gone broke again if hearts don’t run out.
Drug a few decent pots then crippled
AK<56hh
K87 2 hearts
We battle
Hearts don’t come
River 9
I paid him off bc that’s what I do.
We triple up with scraps
QJ>J6
J high flop.
I was all in on the turn. Third guy mucks.
Out in level 7
Kept shoving pre with 10 bigs until some called
QJ
Really horrific showing. I’ll fire again tomorrow
Dead money gonna dead money
Hopefully got that out my system.
Hunting for food now.
Regroup and reset. An event like this is mostly about card distribution.
Could you have played the AA spot a little better? Yes, but your opponent was in there for a 4-bet with 65 and got a dream runout. Most of the time you simply win that hand regardless of your decisions, so you did get very unlucky, even if you let him get there to some degree.
Set over set and AK < 56 are also examples of running into it. Opponents won't always have it. The monster won't always be under the bed.
Keep a positive mindset and just try to make the best decision on every street without getting too up or down emotionally.
Appreciate the comments.
I’m feeling great. Happy to be here. Had a blast at my second table.
I’m really sleep deprived. Bout to load on sushi and migrate back north and take a disco nap before hitting Fremont tonight.

The Masu (Ocean Trout) was absolutely incredible. It’s the red salmon looking guy. So buttery. My god
Good luck [strike]tomorrow[/strike] today. I'm going to play Flight 1D as well.
1) love shakeshack and I'm through the DFW airport a lot but never near the C concourse where it is - always stuck with chick filet - which isn't terrible obviously, but much prefer the shack
2) nice start in the pit so far - let's hope that continues
3) unfortunate in the gladiator - as suggested by TJ, i'd go more like 3.5x OOP with that 4 ball especially this early and deep, 2800 to 3200 ish is fine, on flop I'd only check if I'm planning on raising/jamming (don't know how deep you are), otherwise I'd go like 40-50% pot on the flop there - oh well, whatever it's a $300 dollar tournament - shake it off and move on !
Finally caught up on sleep.
Hard to calculate exact figures from each game of choice, but we are down after yesterday.
-$1800 over all including tournament, slots, BJ
Couple awful BJ runs.
Highlights, I had a good time at Golden Gate, played 3 shoes with their busty dealers who were very friendly. I was in for 600 and out for 600 after a hard fought comeback.
The frozen Dole Whip at Una Mas Tacos inside Sahara. The quesabirria tacos were pretty solid as well and not expensive.

Looking to slow the gamble down today.
Headed to Peppermill to fuel up.
Pics of busty dealers!
I’m going to die now. I usually always go savory over sweet for bfast.
