TR - July 31-Aug4: The comeback LOL
This is my 7th TR, but last year probably doesn't count since there was no real report. I'll post a couple quick stories about that one here.
This one will be back to the old ways... hopefully, ha.
Me and D are headed out tomorrow and G will be meeting us flying in from California. K may drive up again from AZ, but he's unsure as of now.
Me and D are staying at the Paris comped outside of resort fees. G is staying at the Horseshoe fully comped.
Itinerary:
7/31 - arrive around 8pm and we want to hit downtown to grab all the matchplay we can. After watching several videos and reading some articles, it looks like there is about $300 in match and freeplay we can grab.
Our plan is to add our matchplay together at each casino and go for 3 double ups on 50/50 games/bets. Roulette, Craps, and Baccarat most likely. We are avoiding BJ due to splits, doubles, choices.
We originally planned to try to hit the Golden Steer on the way downtown and booked a back up dinner for 10pm at Hugos Cellar due to the Golden Steer apparently being impossible to get into.
We've decided we probably don't want to eat a huge meal and steak drunk and ready to party... so we are settling on something easy, quick, and cheaper probably downtown. Please send any suggestions!
If we smack any matchplay, we will degen the night away... if not, try the Golden Nugget for poker or head back to base and play poker at the Shoe.
8/1 - Play the 11am $300 2 day tourney at the V... depending how drunk or late night one gets, we may play day 1b on Saturday instead. Otherwise cash games and find some good food.
8/2 - Play day 1b or cash games all day.
8/3 - Hopefully grinding day 2, otherwise hitting a buffet and cash games. G leaves later this evening.
8/4 - we have most of the day before returning, probably hit Umiya sushi as G is out this trip he said.
Food: We always hit Umiya and the Bacchanal buffet and that trend will probably continue, but looking at the Golden Steer hopefully - been on my list for years - want the huge prime rib and huge lobster tail. Lol. Hotnoods, Hugos Cellar, 8 East, Fago de Chao, Broken Egg... we are trying to branch out this trip food wise. Any suggestions, let them rip.

Last year cliffs:
Ended the trip down about $2k. Not sure how everyone else did. 3 stories that I can remember:
Cash game 1/3 - playing at the Horseshoe and a table a couple tables to my right gets pretty rowdy and a few guys going back and forth... I decided I needed to be at that table. Lol!
I get moved and eventually get the story, was basically one guy just being a jackass, slow rolling, taunting, etc. D also moves to the table and gets in a hand with him with a set of aces and when D tables his hand the guys says "that's a nice hand"... waits about 4 seconds, then tables a better hand with maybe a 2 rapper straight or something.
Gross, but now I know he isn't good and I gotta take him down. Good luck!
I finally get a chance - he raises from EP, the button calls and I have AK in the BB - I 3 bet somewhat larger than normal. Both call.
Flop is AKT rainbow - i lead out for about half pot and he ships it in for around 400. The button folds and I call. There is about 1k in the pot. I ask if he wants to show and he says, it doesn't even matter... I'm like ****, he must have QJ. The other guy states he folded JJ.
River ends up being a J, dude flips KQ! Gross! Got it in with a 1 outer for about $1k.
V tourney - I don’t fully remember the hand but also lost on a 1 outer jack from that tourney. We did play with a semi famous comedian... very semi famous because I dont remember his name... maybe 55-65 blond with glasses, skinny dude.
Crazy story: K bought his wife a $12-1,500 designer handbag (for sure bad idea regardless, lol). But he has it at the poker tourney and he's pretty tuned up. Few hours later after busting he messages us that he's getting white castle (another real bad decision). A little while later he messages that somebody snatched and dashed the bag right from him. Yikes! Now we are not sure if he was too drunk and left it somewhere or forgot it at White Castle, but the snatchers in Vegas can be legit. He had to leave the next morning and we never saw him, but shitty way to end his trip.
Me, D, and G did hit some dive bar off strip that had a steel door and buzzer to get it. Pretty sketchy, but fun to do something new. We went there as it was right next door to a steakhouse we had to wait for. Sadly I don't remember the name or if it was any good. Lol
We hit Umiya and the Bacchanal buffet as well as Noodlehead - Again this is why we need new places... these are great, but gets redundant for a TR I realized.
300 freeplay - last day of the trip I was able to collect my freeplay from the Paris... went 0-4 on $50-100 color bets in roulette. Lame!
Kind of all over the place with this but....
Long overdue for a winning trip - Let's make it happen! See you tomorrow night!

K will be driving in tonight to meet us and staying until Saturday, so that should add to the good time.
Dive bar and steak place we hit last year - the GOAT sports bar and Herbs and Rye. D said he remembers it being good, I don’t remember it at all other than having to wait 45 minutes for a table and that's how we wondered to the sketchy bar.
Leaving in about 5 hours, can't wait!
BR $4,756 - little lighter than the past couple trips, but plenty to have fun with. No 50s this time! Should work out. Ha.

What a night!
G got 4 free drinks for diamond and got huge ass Jag Bombs at the Horshoe bar... I took down 2.. bad idea. I was crushed at this point already now.
Played kind of all over downtown after that and many different games.
From what I remember -
Hit El Cortez for the 25 match play. Lost first bet I'm pretty sure. Cant even remember the bet tho. More than likely red roulette.
Ditched the boys to go to the Grand solo to get my 50 match there. Not sure why I did that.
Anyways crushed the triple up there. I think I bet the 50 match and 100 of my own. Won 3 in a row. Instead of riding it, started betting normal 25-200... should have kept bombing away as I had to win like 6-7 in a row. Was up to maybe 1100 at one point and cashed out 700.
Found the boys and threw some dice I think at the D. Pretty sure I was close to even... sorry, no more pics of the night. Wish I took more, but was cooked.
Somehow got separated again and found the boys at Golden Gate. Played some BJ and was pretty even. D was killing it next to me. He randomly quits with like 5 hands left in the shoe on me. DUDE! I lost every hand from there - maybe 3-400, not sure. He cashed up like 15-1600, so thats awesome.
Only got the matchplay at the D, El Cortez, and me Downtown Grand... we might go back tonight.
Me and K are just barely alive for now but G and D hit the poker tables already.
Felt like I might puke in the cab on the way back last night so just ran to the room solo, lol. G and D hit the gyro place at Horseshoe... I dont even think K was with us to end the night last night...
I need a shower and food. Let's do this!
