College Football Weekend
I’m going to be out in Vegas with ~20 guys and need a room block for a few nights. Any recs on the strip? Something clean and comfortable (doesn’t need to be the top of the line) and I can’t stand the resort fees. Can I book online or do I need to call? I’ve never done this before so any guidance would be appreciated.

Call, they obviously do much larger accommodations for weddings and conferences. No big deal depending on how your group wants to spend.
Do you (or anyone in your group) have tier status with any properties? If so, contacting a host would be a good first step.
Also, if keeping costs low is a priority, ask yourself...
Is being on the strip a 'must have'?
Is it a requirement that all rooms be together (same floor)?
Answering yes to both will drive the cost up considerably.
An alternative to a block of rooms would be scattered rooms, even possibly across multiple properties, and then one person booking a "Hospitality Suite", larger room with meeting space or multiple couches in the living room area, intended as a gathering spot for larger groups.
If you really want to all be together, I'd contact some of the 2nd/3rd tier properties that might be a little hungrier for your business and willing to give you a deal...group rate + hopefully some resort (food) credits. My short list would be Harrahs/Linq/Flamingo on the CET side, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay on the mgm side.
And yes, this is something you want to call and speak to someone directly about.
Hopefully you do a trip report...that's a large enough group that someone will definitely get into some shenanigans.
Good Luck!
