The Return of the Talking Cat - 5th WSOP Trip Report (33rd? trip to Vegas lifetime) 6/7-6/14
Herrrrow friends,
I'm just glad they haven't shut this place down yet. PardoG, the middle aged man, with a very serious,
Strawberry Julius rungood CONFIRMED incoming
Run it up.
Go get em.
Hope you got a big bag to carry all the chips you will accumulate as you clicked the run good of SJ!
pit games pro!
We grind the game for about 3 hours and rack up $600 dollar win. We lost a huge pot of about 1400 when our huge draw failed to improve against another draw that made some lame one pair hand on the river. Despite that, we rack up $600 to the good. Feels good to book the first cash game win of the trip!
Now it’s breakfast? Lunch time? Cheesestake at Charlie’s sports bar in the Wynn.
The the sandwich is amazing. It’s got a cherry pepper relish, the roll is def homemade by the Wynn and the cheese and seasoning is awesome. Fries are perfect we are going 9.5/10 on this one!

Go Knights Go! And the Cat, too! GL!
25k on second break coming back to 1500 BB
Very swingy first 8 levels hovered between 15k-57k. I ran into some annoying spots in the blinds from shortys where they were obvious squeeze spots or rebuy punts etc and they just woke up with it lol. Story of the trip. But it’s all good. One double and we are fine so let’s go !
We doubled up with KK, and then won a few other small pots to chip up to 70K, then the blinds pass, a couple times, and we have about 60K at 1k/2K when the following hand occurs:
UTG: we open 7s7h to 4k
Mp1 who's been fairly active calls, and the BB calls.
Flop (11K)
9c 7c 2s
BB Checks, we bet 6K, MP1 folds, BB calls
Turn (23K)
3s
BB checks, and I have too many chips (about 48K/50K or something to jam), but I am pretty concerned. This feels like a big flush/straight draw or something like that. I elect to now fire 18K, and the BB calls.
River (59K)
the worst card in the deck, the Jc.
She immediately jams the rest of her stack in which is basically the same as mine, I think she may have covered me by 5-10K.
I fold actually pretty quickly because I just know she's got it. She indeed turns over the flush after I flash her my 77. She says wow great fold (I'm like was it? lol)
Next Hand:
After the blinds pass, she opens in UTG+1 to 4K, and I have 25K now (I have 55 and I just feel like this is not a spot you can flat. It;'s all in or fold and I pass) - of course it went multi way, I would have flopped a set, and there was an Ace on the flop, seriously kill me now. You know when that happens it isn't your night. Nevertheless, I live to fight another day until the following situation occurs:
Folds around to this same Villain in the cutoff and she raises to 5K (BB is now 2500), and I look down at Ah Jd. Easy decision for us to Jam, and we our last 25K in there, and she turns over A6 of spades.
Flop is blank with one spade, turn is a Jack, but a spade, and yep, river, ANOTHER SPADE. Just like that, we are out.
Yikes. This trip my friends.
We also lost our sports bet which, myeh, maybe wasn't a sharp play at all (that was prolly the over), but I really didn't think VGK would lose 2 games in a row. They are in huge trouble and I believe Karlsson also got injured.
Totals are coming in soon but it's ugly my friends. The pit is honestly the only reason it's not worse, who would have thought!
MTT: - $4600 (Wooooof)
Cash Games: -$1370 (at least we booked a $600 dollar win today)
Sports Bets: -$1000
Black Jack: +700
Slots: +50 dollars (lolz)
Roulette: +2600 (we won another 1200 today lol)
Pai Gow: + 500
War: +400
Total: -$2,520
Since I drank a cold brew, I'm pretty awake, so I may go grind 1/3 NL for awhile, and if it goes OK, move over to 1/3 PLO and look for some good spots to make some profit.
Tomorrow, there is a $500 dollar 8 game at the Golden Nugget I believe, and I think it will be time to head downtown. That tournament seems super fun, and I need fun. There is also another Wynn 1100 PLO tomorrow, and I think we will be firing that.
I also need to find some food. I think it's time for Allegro.
Those HORSE tournaments at the Nugget are a blast
Yes TJ, yes they are. This however, is 8-game! Even better!!!
23K from 30K at first break. Table is incredibly soft and bad. Need to make hands tho!
Let’s GO!!
Looked it up on google, found this (on Hendon Mob):
Fri 12 Jun $ 500 Mixed Games: 8-Game Championship (Event #36)
$20,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool.
Consists of J.O.R.S.E., PLO, NL Hold'em and 2-7 Triple Draw)
What's the 'J' in JORSE?
LFG!
Haha I think that’s a type 0
Just lost a big one in triple draw, and another in PLO. We still have some chips heading to dinner break but that was a rough few levels
We bust golden nugget after a brutal triple draw hand, a tough spot in PLO, and then running QQ into KK aipf in the NLHE round.
In the triple draw hand, we started with a 2345 and in a massive multiway 3 bet pot we make 8 perfect and still lose to #2.
In the PLO spot it was a three bet pot and we had a a monster draw on the turn but it didn’t come home.
GG !
Gogogogo!!!!!!!!!! Get all the chips!
I have a feeling, from some of the hands you’ve described, that a PLO… TURBO… format would suit your strengths well!
