Huh, never knew there was a LC thread here. I watched a couple of innings of an Athletics home game the other day, and the park holds 7000 people. They are selling tickets 2/$25. Generating a lot of excitement for the big move!
Where are they playing this year? Saw a highlight the other night, it reminded me of the I-Cubs' stadium back in DSM.

Why wouldn't they play at Cashman Field until the new park is completed?
It was built for baseball. Now being used for minor league soccer, but could it accommodate both?
Cashman is in terrible shape. One of (many) reasons we lost the XFL team. The new ballpark in Summerlin would have worked.
we're still assuming that the Athletics will move here. I'll believe it when the new baseball stadium is completed and the Athletics actually show up here.
I haven't been keeping up with that at all, but I thought it was already a done deal. No?
the financing for the new stadium still isn't completed and no ground-breaking has occurred yet (other than getting rid of the Tropicana).
although a step in that direction just happened as Clark County granted the parcel of land the stadium is on a special tax district. meaning all of the sales taxes collected will go towards repaying stadium construction loans instead of going towards other governmental uses.

John Fisher doesn't have over a billion dollars in liquid assets to build the stadium. He's not selling GAP stock to finance it.
But that one is already in use. I haven't seen Cashman recently, but they could have spruced it up.
Zero shot of that with it getting sold to a developer.
