We were never beating the KC Swifties. Tay Tay and Ice Spice were in the box doing witchcraft and what not.

Started new year new me season today as my every week bar food and drink season is now over. Got signed up for a program that is snowboard focused (good for sports and life in general too) so I can finally land that 1 foot jump I’ve been wanting to hit. Should be soooper sick on the go pro footy.

Yeah, no bueno.

It was on NPR last week. It was an oil tanker that rescued a tugboat.

I wonder how the 5 million got broken down if the Capt gets $300k.

had not read/heard about that

it's an old saying i remember hearing since i was young where people joke that if you get towed into shore make sure it's a friend/family and never toss them the line, make them grab it themselves (unsure if the act of physically passing up the line matters or not though)

I think it's just considered to be implied consent to the rescue, but if they toss you a line and you tie it off, that would also qualify, so not sure why folks fixated on the passing them a line part.

Tossing a line would be strong evidence you solicited help; even when FW throws to Squid.

It was like an episode of Franklin & Bash. They proved the saviors were faking the distress call.

and of course, giving up Valentine's Day for Lent.

Apparently people have given up the chat thread for Lent.

I decided to push Lent off a few weeks this year. I usually give something up for Lent, even though I'm not Catholic, as a self improvement measure. It is often alcohol, but we have a big week-long medieval head-kicking event in early March, so I'd been choosing other things. I don't want to be dry during a week of vacation. This year I decided "heck with it. I'm not doing this for religious reasons anyway, so I'll just observe Lent after my vacation.

For Lent I gave up working. Someone should tell my boss.

Greek Orthodox Lent starts March 20th. You can go with that.

Neither a borrower nor a Lenter be.

I'll give up Ouzo for Greek Orthodox Lent.

I've pretty much given up on getting the guys I deal to at the local American Legion to honor OPTAH. At least I've gotten them to mostly act in turn.

Lent couldn't have come soon enough. I had swelling in one small toe on each foot. Could that be pre-gout?

yes. but also could be the AIDS trying to flee your body.

I mean, it could be, but gout usually attacks the big toe, particularly the joint where it meets the main foot.

gout....."red, hot and swollen. you don't even want your bedsheets to touch them"

says the rheumatologist I married.

One went down the other turned redder, assuming we are talking about the same thing.

The LLSNL weight loss should be swapped out with a health roster. I recall recently we have a separated shoulder and one or more bum knees.

Usually but not always. After a couple of weeks at WSOP a few years ago I had been doing the usual unhealthy eating and plenty of drinking. After I got back I developed a severe case of pain, redness and swelling in my right foot - seemed to be worse in the 2/3 toes. I thought I probably had an infection so went to my primary - she looked at it and said - "thats gout". And sure enough uric acid levels confirmed it. I can confirm the pain was so bad it hurt to have sheets on top.

The Lunch Lady Song by Adam Sandler was how I learned about gout.

I had my mom buy me "They're All Gonna Laugh At You" because we were doing that song at summer camp. That was an awkward car ride home.

I have to imagine the camp counselors thought it was hilarious, suggesting parents of 5th graders buy the album so we could practice at home. The 90s were funny.

I’ve really enjoyed this season of True Detective. That **** in the ice caves really weirded me out

Steak guys ITT, what's your preferred method? I'm kind of a noob at cooking.

I bought some fatty chuck steak on sale and tried to reverse sear. Baked on low heat for about 25 min and then finished it in the pan with sizzling hot oil. Didn't have butter so I used avocado oil.

Came out ok, medium rare inside, I oversalted somewhat though.

Ribeyes > on the smoker or grill until IT is 110-115° > on the hot grill seared for a couple minutes on each side 800-900°

Can't do smoker/grill in my appartment.
