I've been thinking about poker lately, may pick it up, and give it a read. Think I'm heading to Vegas in April for my 40th/1yr sober anniversary. Can use all the help I can get lol
I'm reading it now. It's interesting, but honestly nothing I haven't heard discussed in this forum a lot. It's all about max exploits for weak games, particularly loose/passive ones. My big problem is that each concept needs more examples, and maybe some EV calcs to provide more evidence that their proposed exploit is more +EV than a standard line.
I think it would be good for someone converting to live "no fold em" games from online, or perhaps from live limit, but anyone who has spent signif
The example of overlimping KK in fairly LP / giving up easily postflop eleventeen ways limped (my standard play) had me intrigued.
Only part way thru it (and might take me a while to finish as I just don't have energy/desire for things in general right now). But so far it seems to want it both ways: i.e. you can't argue for loosely limping very speculative hands in EP if you're also arguing to overlimp monsters in LP expecting raises. After I re-read multiple times in a better mindset I'll prob
thank you both thats very insightful. im gogin to play some live fo the first time i along long time so was debating between that and THE COURSE

the reason i was very wary is because it seemed their preflop[ section seemed super super like wish washy nothign hard cut

I was thinking about your sobriety the other day. Glad for you it's still going.
I'm certain that your home life, sleep, health etc are huge improvements. But how has it impacted your social life? Are you in a friend group where the meet ups are booze heavy and it's a little weird not to be drinking/you now leave earlier or don't go to some things etc?
separating for sure. Currently in the same house which is fine because we have a self contained studio on the ground floor. And alternating days when we manage the kids.
Wife has rehab next month and after that she will move out as a prelude to us going for full separation, selling the house etc
Sorry to hear. Hope the transition goes as well as possible given the tough circumstances.

You on the mend geegee?

Thank you. I'm also sober from cannabis as of 8 days ago as well. Which was helpful for my alcohol sobriety but definitely a crutch. I can't remember the last time I mainlined life straight, no chaser, and it not be because I'm sick. We'll see how it goes.
Socially, there is a monthly work meetup for all the remote people that I now skip because it's always at a brewery or bar. I went to one when I was first getting sober, ordered an NA beer, and got a bunch of questions. I haven't been back since, so maybe they think I'm snooty. I've tried to get a ski meetup going but with limited success.
The rest of my friends know and have been very supportive. Nobody has let on that it's awkward for them. It's not for me, I don't care what other people do.
i've been getting into the pokers recently with a bunch of pit stops at card rooms recently on my roadtrip back east from the ozarks
it's been the softest lineups of my life
it's still just lol variance but over 48 hours i'm only winning 4bb/hour at 1-2 games
did lose a 6k pot to a terrible runout when table whale reshoved with a gut shot and binked it so i guess I can lean on that for comfort, but i definitely find myself making big blunders each session and seriously considering investing in coaching or at least reading a book or two to button up and improve for lolstakes live america
i feel deeply ashamed to be up only $8 an hour playing in these disgustingly bad lineups
squidz - each time i perused the bj tables it was usually 6:5 payout and if not then they only penetrated like 60% of the 6 decks so I decided to pass and just focus on pokerz
Sorry you have to go through this. I bet she lied the entire time. Hope that you can help the kids through it.
yep, addicts lie all the time to cover up/protect their habit. even totally irrationally and often the more irrational, the angrier they get
super sad as she hardly ever drank even 4 years ago and almost none of the personality issues/our problems existed.
@rickroll - Stick with checking out every little dump you pass for bj. There are still incredible games out there. Bad penetration can lead to other fun things. Shuffle tracking can get quite technical BUT there are still casinos in the hinterlands that have such easy to track shuffles that with the tinyest amt of coaching (happy to offer input and direction) can become hugely profitible.
I have about a million fun shuffletracking stories. A personal favorite was at the height of our notoriety my pal went into the strat in LV cuz she heard they changed their shuffle and it was now trackable. She had been 86'd there multiple times but we were not afraid giving it the old college try and the worst thing that happens is they refuse to deal the cards and we did not particularly care if we got re flyered cuz we were very active and getting flyered on the regular anyway. They new exactly who she was AND they also knew her play partner. For some reason casino higher ups made thier own judgement and decided based on their play that they were fine with the action. 2 days and 6 figures later they finally stopped dealing the cards.
The point of the story is not only are they brain dead but even when they have info that a notorious high stakes team player is in their casino they may decide that today their action is "OK".
I dont want to discuss exact shuffles and ideas in a public forum but am happy to discuss via pm if it is something u r working on/interested in.
yeah i legit considered joining the dark side for a 401k etc and made a habit of clicking the "careers" page on various casino websites and the few that published salaries were all like 30k, even seemingly important positions had fairly low pay

Sorry to read this. Sure you'll do what you can for your kids.
Uncle Feels & Everyone else going through it right now, keep your chin up. One step, one day at a time. It'll get better.
I have to tell myself that daily. It's a crappy-ass platitude, I know, but it's the only thing helping me through the grieiving process right now.
We should all get together in Vegas in December (around/just before WPT, after FU-F1) and have some fun. Good games, video poker degenning, better food, laughs and stories. Oh, and make fun of Zoltan, because why not.
Cannonball Run III will not be WSOP 2024. It'll be WPT 2024.

I think your baseline play should be from "The Course" and using the new book as an exploit when the conditions are right.
"The Course" appears to be geared towards "smart" players. What about for us dummies?

You’ve been pretty cool about me slamming a 12 pack when we ride. Thanks for not making me feel awkward about it
By the power of LaserDick, be healed!
is that the codename of your current top secret project laserdick?
is that a sexual thing like sounding or a more advanced version of the prince albert?
The latter.
BTW, Happy Leapday, degens.
