This website will always contain the latest information -> 2023 March Madness Squares

--
What is this?

A March Madness Squares Pool is a completely random, neutral EV sweat for every game of the NCAA Tournament. That's 63 independent sweats for the price of one, so yeah it's pretty much the greatest thing ever. See previous pools to get a feel:

Still confused? No worries, just ship your escrow and enjoy the ride. You'll catch on after the first couple games and I'll be posting the winners of each game as we go.

I'd highly recommend sending early to avoid any transfer limits we'll hit as we get closer to the tourney.

There is only one pool this year. We're not reserving squares, it's first-come, first-served, tho non-regs and knuckleheads may get bumped for regs at any time before we scramble the squares.

Let us goggogogo...

Venmo shut me down. bastards.

Paid out 73.9k, owe 1.1k to nhfunkii & scenario20. PM'd asking for alt payment method that doesn't involve stamps or writing in cursive.

Notes for next year's pool:

  • Figure out new Venmo account rules or change Venmo to incoming only
  • On average we lose 8% of participants YoY
  • Decrease squares from $750 to $500 (had to buy $9k in squares to sell us out)

All: Feedback on the payout structure change from 1|1|2|3|6|12 to 0.5|1|3|5|7|10?

For the unbought squares, could just make them 'ghost' squares and those winnings go back into the pool. For every square not hit, it raises the value of those that do. Just a thought.

That's how I've always done it, unbought become "ghosts".

if it's too much of a pain to change the win structure, could pool together the ghost squares and split between the entries who had a winning square at any point

I like having R1 be equal to buy in. Freerolling is good. Sorry you had to come out of pocket more than you wanted. I would have voted for having unbought squares carry over to the next round or spread that money to same round winners.

I could dig the idea of a rollover to next round(s). Just depends on how much time @Admo has to commit to the game.

Thanks again for running @Admo - this is one of the greatest, and personal favorite sweats of our group. Could commit to around 10 squares at the $500 level. Hate that you had to take on so much of the board...or you could've hit for a ton and it was worth it lmao

Let me know when you're ready to fire up again - already have a couple folks asking about it.

This year's March Madness Squares Pool is up and running.
