$2/$5 NL with 77
i have $1k behind. UTG+4 is somewhat loose aggressive and has me covered. (i've been playing with him for about 4 hours). He 3 bet me once (preflop) and I folded. He 3 bet me another time (preflop), I 4-bet and he folded.
I'm UTG+3 and i limp with 7♣7♠. UTG+4 raises to $20. SB and BB call. I close the action.
$80 8♦7♦2♥ SB and BB check. I bet $65 and UTG+4 calls. SB and BB fold
$210 T♣ I bet $180 and UTG+3 raises to $400. Hero?
I raise pre, this has been beaten to death above though to whatever. AP call is mandatory call.
This flop I probably check my entire range if I raised pre and got 3 callers. I don't know how this changes exactly with a limp pre / call dynamic. Obviously going for the x/r with this hand.
Flop bet looks too big to me 4 ways OOP but again I'm not sure how the limp/call dynamic changes this.
Turn I guess I rip and pray, I don't really love it though. Our line seems nutted and he wants to GII anyway. He has TT/88/J9s, probably not 96s, 22 maybe...A♦T♦ A♦9♦ 8♥7♥...not looking amazing for us.
EDIT
J9o huh? Once again my ranging is garbo.
I recently got raised allin on the river having a set of 8s on J84TK and was worried about a straight or higher set, but villain had KJo and made top two pair. You usually can't fold a set except on some 4-flush or 4-flush board or something. Kind of silly bad beat post.
I know it is unscientific not to play GTO ranges, but when you are in 3 to 5 -way pots, there is big value to making a set which you can play strongly against all the two pairs they can make playing J9o, A8o, K3s, 74s, etc. By contrast having QQ+ as an overpair or top pair with AK/AQ, you lose to all the two pairs, so it is harder to play a big pot. Sure, you have to fold when you miss a lot and you are likely to get stacked when the set is no good.
I like leading the flop in this situation as it is so multiway and will get checked through a lot, but I would lead very small. $20-30. You give people an opportunity to raise and you'll get called by some ridiculous stuff.
