[LOW] Potential angle shoot at $1/2 table stakes
So to preface, I know that this isn’t clear cut. A lot of thought would need to go into this for it to be an angle but the events that happened are weird enough I think this may qualify. I wasn’t involved in the hand, just at the table, but based on this and other stuff the Button player did later that night at best I think he’s a shitty person.
Button: Mid 40/50s guy. Has slowrolled me multiple times that night, has talked a lot of **** at most everyone and then butthurt when things don’t go his way, acts out of turn constantly, and fortunately for him is running the like sun tonight.
BB ($700 - effective stack): Just sat down about an orbit ago. Pretty clear he’s distracted, looking at his phone, and has music blasting as he’s asked the dealer the action a couple of times while touching his hand to his headphones.
$1/$2 table stakes
3 limps to Button who raises to $20. Standard open size for this game. BB calls. Rest fold.
($46) Flop: 2d 3c 7s. BB checks. Button bets $25 using 5 $5 chips. BB asks how much it is and calls.
($96) Turn: Jd. BB checks and looks down at his phone. Button says all in (for $655) and tosses out one $25 chip in a single motion/action. I could hear the all in across the table but it wasn’t loud at all and this guy is loud when he wants to be in similar situations. Dealer did announce the all in but I didn't hear it. BB looks back up and throws out a $25 chip for a call. He clearly did not know the bet size. In this room one chip in the middle is a call.
The Button snap turns over AJ offsuit the second the BB puts in the chip and scoops. He hadn’t turned over a hand that quickly all night. Typically waiting on the other person to show first or slow rolling them. The Button was bewildered as to why his stack was getting pushed over and immediately goes to talk to the floor.
There is no doubt the BB has to pay the amount and is responsible for knowing the action. I just don’t see the reasoning behind jamming turn for 7x pot with a hand that is almost always way ahead given the action. BB makes a bunch of shitty remarks about the Button player, the way the dealer is pushing him the chips. Just stuff that makes you know he’s a crap human.

Did the dealer announce "all in" after he threw out his bet? If not, he would of had a case if he called the floor over immediately as the hand was happening (walking over to supervisor after the fact greatly diminishes a favorable ruling).
Going all in for $700 in 1/2 with TPTK that he hit on the turn isn't something you see every day either.

Good point I modified the OP for that. The dealer did say all in but I didn't hear it at all. After the hand the dealer said he said all in. They don't have all in buttons or anything to throw out in front of a player. The dealers at this room are frankly D or C tier at best so unclear if he actually said it or not.
Most rooms these days, the dealers will put out the plaque that says All-in as soon as they hear that and/or confirm it with the player making the bet.
I guess this is a cautionary tale to confirm the bet every time you are considering a call.
Possibly the button was itching to take advantage of BB wearing headphones (itself an annoying behavior) but if he was verifying the action previously he should have kept doing so.

This room sorely needs a red All-in Button. I’d talk to the floor about this if they don’t have them for their tables.
Part of poker is “always protect your hand”. Blasting Britney Spears in your headphones doesn’t give you carte blanche to be overprotected by the dealer or the table. Seems like he was slowing down the action at the table repeatedly too. Which is 100% not cool.
The BB failed to protect his hand. Is the button’s action an angle or a smart play?
I guess that’s for the jury to decide, but let me close my argument with something I learned in 1L:
Caveat emptor.

The button was bewildered? You mean the BB right?

If you choose to play in a shit-hole cardroom you have to be prepared to deal with all kinds of angle shooters and other assholes.
Life is too short for me to willingly spend time in a shit-hole.
BB needs to play at Mohegan Sun in CT, then he'll be fine and floor will let him take his $25 back and fold.
Angle?
something kind of like this happened to me where I was listening to music and the guy threw out 35$ on the river and I was bluffing and announced "raise" and they said "no he's all in" and I said "well then why didnt you throw out the all in chip??" and I ended up having to call the 35$ because it wasnt clear (other people at the table said they didnt hear the guy say all in).
How would this be an angle, if he verbally declared all in and the dealer repeated it? The BB can ask to clarify the bet size before calling. If he's not paying attention, that's on him.
