UTG ($1500) – loose recreational player. I’ve seen him limp with hands like 97s from UTG.
MP ($900) – tight, straightforward pro.
Hero (BB) ($900)

UTG limps, MP raises to $40, Hero 3bets to $140, UTG calls, MP calls

Flop($420) 8 7 2

Hero($760) - ?

Well, I assume this is just a jam. Has anyone considered betting something like $150 here?

I think $150 or so is the more standard play, gives UTG the chance to spazz with something like J9s or JTs. Also even as a lose recreational player he might be able to fold a hand like 97 if you shove?

I don't think you need to jam. I'd go closer to $200 or $250 just for value, to charge straight draws, and to set up an easy turn shove.

I "assume" MP is not limp/calling AA/KK?

What is your image?

150 I think is ideal - jam looks too strong imo as well as going with a larger sizing. It also gives you the ability to take the pot down when you have say AQ or something to that effect.

As others have stated, there's no point in jamming this flop when you can easily get stacks in on the turn.

Unless "tight, straightforward pro" has T9s, he likely is drawing to 5 outs or fewer if he's behind.
