curious spot for 2-2-3 no limit game
Some additional context on the hand:
- UTG is short stacked - his turn call is an all-in so there's a side pot situation
- I think technically he may have been $1 or $2 short on the turn call, this is reflected in the hand history - MP:
- Might've been something like 30/10 vpip/pfr at the time? (Felt like he started limping a lot more after this hand, so my initial read of 30 may have been wrong)
- Seemed to be on tilt a little bit? may have been a little card dead
- I've had a little bit of run good in the 30 minutes leading up to this hand, not sure if that contributed to his tilt or not or if I'm reaching
- I don't think this is that relevant, but he was like very sleepy in the earlier parts of the session, i.e. dozing when action was on him pre - Hero: should have a pretty standard tag image
- This game is a 2-2-3 no limit game; also, rake for this game was $6 off the pot if the hand went past pre-flop (the rake is reflected in the hand history)
- I don't remember the action prior to the turn 100% correctly, but I definitely checked flop, I'm 90% sure I led turn, and I'm 100% sure MP raised turn + overbet river

Probably fold to turn raise. River is easy fold.
plan was to call down any reasonably sized river bet since I should be beating smaller flushes plus some trips (not sure if he would be value betting anything weaker than that)
river overbet feels wildly strong: I lose to a2, 55, higher flushes, all of which seem reasonable to shove in that situation?
oh another wrinkle in thinking was the side pot situation: i was thinking if getting me to fold to isolate the UTG all in would affect villain's shoving range here - in the end i basically ignored this factor because it felt like there were too many value hands for this to actually be a consideration
i cant fold, sets like 55 and 22 usually bet two tone flops and your hand isnt that well-repped. i could probably fold a low flush.
I take it MP shoved, not UTG? In my experience, people rarely shove w/o the nuts. That said, why so much? Why not go for value? But I go back to people rarely shove w/o the nuts 😉
Go with your gut, but from here I fold.

ugh yea I messed up the hand history because UTG was all in at that point, so the shove came from MP
yea overbet shove in 2-2-3 has to be skewed towards value

I folded and villain showed 28o for weak trips - seemed like a pretty big overplay with that hand but got a better hand to fold :(
I'm not folding the third nut flush for 70BB. Small flushes yes. It's hard to make a flush.
It's a flush on a paired board. You only beat on overplay or a bluff.
It's a tough spot because you're OOP in a multi-way limped pot. Almost like a bomb pot, where anyone can have anything.
My first thought is that MP could show up with some random KXs combo that makes the 2nd nut flush. But I'd think if he was going to play KTs, or K9s, it'd be for a raise, and most of the rest of the KXs hands would just get folded. Also kinda hard for him to be boated up on the turn when he checks flop.
If I stopped long enough to think about this, I might start to think he's got a lot of worse flushes in his range when he limps pre. I might also start to wonder why he didn't start a bet on the flop, when action checked to him, with just one opponent behind him.
I dunno. I'd probably fold river against most opponents. If V is tilted, I probably call, but somewhat expecting to lose to some weird hand around 1/3 of the time. Like, I'm sort of expecting to see A2o with the Ad more often than a higher flush or Q2/52.
